Kaiyodo: Amazing Yamaguchi Magneto Prototype and Promotional Images (Kinda) UPDATED

The Amazing Yamaguchi Magneto was shown over the weekend and now promotional images are trickling. No hard info or larger pics, but I’m sure as soon as I post this all of that will be released. That’s my luck. EDIT: TOLD YOU! Updated with official pics and info.

A lot of people don’t like the Revoltech Marvel line because of it’s jointiness. Jointyness? Jointessesnesses. Whatever. How exposed and apparent the articulation is even in normal poses. I was enamored with the line until Venom came along and soured me a bit. Mine had a lot of QC issues like a floppy abdomen and other hard to pose spots, but I still grabbed Spider-Gwen. And then proceeded to never open her. It’s been a busy summer. But Wolverine is looking amazing. And now there is Magneto.

I don’t really think of Magneto as a super agile type. Sure, he has power poses but for the most part I think of him as a “let my mutant power do the work” kind of guy. And before anyone goes all “Well in X-Men Volume ___ Issue ____ Erik Lehnsherr appeared to be quite adept at kung-fu, fisticuffs, and gymnastics” I get it, there is always circumstances like that. But in my brain he’ll always float and throw metal at people. So I’m having a hard time getting myself excited about this release. Simply because I believe this line looks best in extreme poses.

But I do get it. Wolverine needs a guy to fight, who better than the meanie who can throw him around like a ragdoll? And I’ll admit, he does look good. But even I, who has apparently become the biggest apologist for the Amazing Yamaguchi series, think the joints are in overdrive here. And I think it’s the cape. It’s just a little too in your face. Hey, I get it. It can move!

But the trickling promo pics are making me like it a bit more. The face options and the real magnets are twanging my heart strings. The colors make the cape seems a little more like one complete piece instead of a bunch of little segments. That’s hard to unsee but these do a better job of conveying it.

EDIT: Here’s the official promo pics. He’s scheduled for November and will run you about $50.

Who am I kidding, I’ll probably get it. I’m a sucker for the plastic.

Also, some preliminary Captain America:

Hmmm. HMMMMMM.
