Wow, this reveal barely made it in time for San Diego Comic Con, and, really, it’s not a true reveal since we’ve known what it is for a while. And not a huge reveal since USAToday decided to bury it within a vaguely titled article. But here it is, the Marvel Legends The Raft set!
Really, USAToday? The headline is “The Mothership: Talking ‘Pets’ and a super Comic-Con reveal.” Which is pretty much calling it out, but the featured image is from the movie The Secret Life of Pets and it’s way down the page. Also funny is the pic is titled “Under Embargo Until 7.2.16.” And the article went up on the site yesterday without anyone knowing. The actual announcement is during the podcast The Mothership. But confirmation is confirmation. Anyway, here’s the pic …
Tease with a classic Elektro on the flap. Low-blow!
Hasbro’s Marvel set will be available at the event, a collectible pack ($119.99) of action figures pitting heroic Spider-Man vs. the supervillains Sandman, Dreadknight, Abomination, Enchantress and Purple Man.
Thanks to the Internet, here’s some closer pictures at the figures themselves.
It looks like Spider-Man is the Pizza Spidey with a new head. Dreadknight’s helmet looks awesome, but no lance kind of makes me sad. Still a cool get. EDIT: I have no clue how I missed the Lance right there at his feet. Happy Robo!
Purple Man is a figure I never expected to get, but if I had imagined one, this is what it would have looked like. The Sandman is a little bit weird being all in sand color, but I think that reinforces the theory that a regular Sandman will appear later in a standard series.
I think I like the colors on this Abomination better than the Cap BAF wave version. And Enchantress. Oh, Amora, you look so good. And angry.
I don’t know where the big pics came from, but the box pic is on the USAToday site.
