Bandai: S.H. Figuarts Star Wars EPII Obi-Wan Kenobi

Bandai SH Figuarts Star Wars Attack of the Clones ObiWan Kenobi Promo 08

It’s not Han Solo or Chewbacca or any of the other Star Wars characters that Bandai has teased for their S.H. Figuarts line, but it is my personal favorite version of prequel Obi-Wan Kenobi, so bring it on!

I’ll always have EPIV Obi-Wan as the top slot want, but if we’re talking the Clone Wars era, then this Obi-Wan takes it. He’s past the padawan stage, he’s finding his way in the world as a Jedi Master. He’s in the hippie phase and not jaded by the weight of the universe. Y’know, from a certain point of view.

Attack of the Clones Obi-Wan comes with two different head sculpts. Like Mace, the differences aren’t major, but I prefer the very slightly amused look over the very slightly annoyed look.

Remember, the printing technology used on the Figuarts faces makes it look a little rough in macro up-close pics. This baby will look sweet in-hand.

Otherwise, it’s looks to be a complete re-use of the EPI Obi-Wan with some color changes. The right grip hand here does look open, whereas EPI Obi-Wan has a closed off grip hand. Maybe they altered it to make it easier (because that first was kind of a pain in the ass) or maybe it’s just the prototype. We’ll see.

The odd thing about it, Obi-Wan doesn’t do that pose until EPIII, so you just know that Bandai has another set of heads up their sleeves. That sounds odd now that I think it aloud. Aren’t all heads somewhere up sleeves, at some point in a shirt? Anyway…

It’s listed as having two accessories, which I assume are his lightsaber hilt with a peg for the belt and then an ignited lightsaber with removable blade. No Qui-Gon lightsaber this time around, which is accurate.

SRP is around $56, which means pre-orders should be around $50, and pre-orders go up July 1 for a November 2016 release date.

Now give us a General Grievous! And a Qui-Gon! We have his lightsaber, now we just need the man to hold it.
