At Toy Fair Hasbro shared news of the upcoming Transformers “Titans Return” line of action figures coming out in 2016. There were a number of exciting reveals and figures shown, but the star of the show was Fortress Maximus.
There were a number of other figure shown: Deluxe class will see Chromedome, Blurr, Scourge, and Mindwipe. Legend class will see Ravage, Laserbeak, and Rumble. These will transform and fit into leader class Soundwave. Between the G1 Transformers, the 1986 Movie Transformers, and the IDW looks I’m a kid in a candy store once again. All the figure looked amazing and the Transformers table looked like it needed to be torn into and played with at the Hasbro show.
Especially Fortress Maximus. That big giant hunk of plastic is just screaming “divorce” all over it. Seriously, I can see my wife killing me over that pile of plastic. Plus, I’ll have to build a new wing onto the house. But it looks amazing and like so much fun to play with.
Headmasters were the main theme from the show. The Headmasters cartoon debuted in 1987, which was about the time that I stopped watching Transformers. Sure, I still loved the G1 original series stuff and followed loosely along, but Headmasters and the followup Masterforce just never caught me. Even trying to watch those shows years later I found myself going “WTF” quite a bit. These days, IDW’s made me fall in love with a number of the characters via their appearances in the comic books More Than Meets The Eye and Robots in Disguise. I read the former religiously and literally can’t wait until I get my automated PayPal invoice informing that my subscription is available. As a collector, I do my best to fill my shelves with the crew of the Lost Light.
Which is why I was super excited for the reveals at Toy Fair this year. Almost all of them made it to my list of must-buys and even lit a small flame under me to start reviewing some Transformers again. Another flame that Hasbro helped flame by putting Combiner Wars Hound and Trailbreaker in our swag bags.
