Hasbro: Star Wars Black Series Jango Fett

Jango Fett_01As a longtime Boba Fett fan, the addition of Jango left me with some mixed feelings. On the one hand, it was nice to see the Mandalorian armor used to its full potential in a few fights, but, on the other hand, part of the fun of Boba Fett was mystery. I don’t think I really knew I didn’t need a Boba Fett origin until I actually saw one. Anyway, Jango had quite a few cool moments in Attack of the Clones, and I particularly enjoyed playing his Bounty Hunter game on PS2 quite a bit as well, so I was looking forward to this figure. Let’s take a look!

Jango Fett_02NOTE: I had to repaint the eyebrows on my Jango. I could only bear to take one pic of the factory paint ops as they were. Read on for more details.

Jango Fett_03Accessories

Jango comes with two blaster pistols, a removable helmet and a removable rocket pack. The blasters are nicely sculpted and fit well in the hip holsters, but they are slightly gummy and can warp. I’ve seen worse, but I’d appreciate it if they were a little more solid.

The helmet fits nicely and surprisingly seems to be in scale with the figure. It might be slightly large, but it looks good to my eye. The range finder doesn’t move, if you were hoping for that.

Jango Fett_05The rocket pack is the pack from the later half of Attack of the Clones with the shorter missile. It fits securely on Jango’s back via a peg, but it’s easy to remove.

Jango Fett_06I recall my Fett’s pack not fitting too securely. Speaking of Fett’s pack, the peg and the tiny clamps don’t quite line up with Jango’s back armor hole, so you will need to do further modding to add that pack to your Jango.

Jango Fett_07Sculpt

I have no complaints about the sculpt. It’s sharp and looks like the source material.

Jango Fett_08At first I thought he was a little bulky, but I went back and looked at some of the source materials and noticed that Tem Morrison was pretty stocky in that outfit, so it’s appropriate.

Jango Fett_09The face is a great match for Morrison as well, though I noticed they didn’t add the scars around his eyes for some reason.

Jango Fett_10Articulation

Jango Fett has the following articulation:

  • Swivel/Hinged neck, shoulders, elbows, hips and ankles
  • Ball-and-socket mid-torso and neck
  • Double-hinged knees
  • Cut thighs, biceps and gauntlets

Jango Fett_11There are some extra cut joints around the elbows and gauntlets that allow the arms to move without the tubes interfering with the articulation. The mid-torso movement is pretty limited, but the hips aren’t hindered by the belt because the gun belt is cast in a fairly soft material.

Jango Fett_12Paint

I was so excited to grab up this figure that I didn’t closely look at the paint. The eyebrows are probably the worst painted eyebrows I’ve ever seen on a figure.Check it out.

I ended up using Acetone to remove them and painted on new ones. Otherwise, the paint is good. I was glad to see dry brushing on the uniform and some weathering on the metallic armor parts.

Jango Fett_13Overall

Jango is pretty much what I’m looking for with this series. Solidly sculpted with appropriate accessories and useful articulation. If it weren’t for the eyebrow issue that I had to fix, I’d say he’s a perfect figure. I suppose he could have come with an alternate flight helmet and a poncho. I did order a Jango blue poncho from ebay seller Rickhor409 for Jango. I gave him my Boba Fett brown poncho for some of the pictures here.
