Those of us who originally bought the Mythic Legions barbarian builder set off of the Four Horsemen’s store opened our boxes to a much more stripped-down barbarian than we were expecting. This was due to a slight warehouse error, but thankfully and graciously the Horsemen rectified this mistake without delay, and all ten of us who grabbed the grayscale barbarian were rewarded with an extra box of accessories free of charge . . . and what a difference that box of goodies made.
In my initial review of the figure, you can tell I was pretty thrilled with the figure from a quality and pure fun standpoint, but the additional parts add an entirely new level of “frickin’ awesome” to an already fun figure — because now we have the ability to build our own analogues to some very famous faces.
First, let’s take a look at the added accessories. In addition to the spear that initially came with the figure, you get two swords, a dagger, extra horns, feathers and antlers for the helmet, a second fully helmeted head, a separate waistpiece, a second loincloth, a large axe, and two different pairs of shoulder pauldrons.
Both heads are fully modular allowing you to attach any of the parts to each other in any way you’d like. While I loved the bearded helmeted head that came with the barbarian, I think I like that more as a dwarf head since I equate them with being hairy little bastards, so I’ll be keeping the fully helmeted head as my standard head for this barbarian.
The waistpieces and loincloths are swappable as well, allowing you to pair them in any combo.
The giant axe features a removable spike that allows you to swap in an extra bladed edge for a double-edged axe.
As far as characters that can be made, while you won’t get exact representations, you can get a reasonable approximation to two major fantasy figures: Warduke and Frazetta’s Death Dealer. I’m sure there are others that you can make certain approximation of with the included parts, but to me those are the two coolest. Not that there’s any shortness of badassness. You can make a reasonable approximation of an armed-for-war Odin or various random pairings. Since the bulk of the review has already been taken care of, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
