Hey! It’s Star Wars Day! I struggle to come up with anything better to take the sting off of a Monday.
So, right now all of the buzz around everyone’s favorite intergalactic film franchise is the the upcoming The Force Awakens movie scheduled to hit cinemas hard in December. I know a LOT of people (me included) have a LOT of, ahem, HOPE and expectations for the film, so hopefully JJ Abrams will deliver, the new cast will be beloved and Han will live to fight another episode…
Anyhow, we have learned a couple of new things about the new movie in the past few days (and I got to see the new trailer on an IMAX screen ahead of the new Avengers flick, it looked unreal) that are pretty exciting. First, the cover of the June 2015 issue of Vanity Fair was unveiled prior to the magazine’s release later this week and as coincidence would have it, it features Star Wars. Just kidding, there is nothing coincidental about it. Personally, I think the cover looks great and Han is looking very much in his element here, and the magazine features a whole spread of new pictures from famed photog Annie Leibovitz. There is currently a preview of the issue up at the VF website, so you can check it out here. I will warn you though, there is some slightly spoilery material in there, including new shots of cast members we have seen before, as well as a bit of confirmation of the parts being played by Adam Driver and Lupita Nyong’o, so tread carefully. This is exciting stuff, right?
Now, due to all of the secrecy around this new flick, and the proximity to the San Diego Comic Con, we have kind of hit a drought in terms of new stuff for our main wheelhouse: the toys. Yes, there will be LOTS of toys and I personally cannot wait for some Black Series figures to support this movie. Could these be some prototypes? Only time will tell. What we do know is that the Episode VII merchandise deluge will begin in the toy aisles on SEPTEMBER 4th, so get ready to a frenzy not seen since 1999. Woo!
So, aside from having some upcoming reviews of some new Black Series figures and Bandai Model Kits and SDCC coverage, we are just holding it down, the calm before the storm. The good news is that it gives us a chance to reflect on all of the cool stuff that has come out over the past couple of years, so here is a quick gallery of some of our favorite Star Wars pictures from the site.
Additionally, you can see all of our Star Wars reviews, news and notes right here if you are looking for quick fix. This is such an anxious and exciting time. New Star Wars. Can you believe it? May the Fourth be with you. Always…
