Funko’s Legacy line of super-articulated, 6-inch scale action figures continues with characters from the collectible card game Magic: The Gathering. I’m going to take a closer look at all six of these figures this week starting with Barbarian Battler Garruk Wildspeaker.
Garruk is a massive-looking brawler, the figure measures an impressive 7.5 inches tall and towers over most of the other figures in the line.
The figure has a pretty complex design with a lot of different armor pieces, straps, chain mail, fur and clothing, and it’s all sharply detailed in the figure.
The figure comes with a massive battle axe that he can hold well in his right hand with support from the left. It’s also sharply detailed and cast in solid plastic.
The articulation is similar to the Star Wars Black figures from Hasbro or Funko’s own Game of Thrones figures with:
- Ball-socket head, neck, and upper torso
- Swivel/Hinge shoulders, hips, ankles, and wrists
- Swivel thighs and biceps
- Double-hinged knees
- Single-hinged elbows
The articulation functions really well. The upper torso has great range of motion. The armor pieces and skirt are all cast in a very pliable plastic and allow for great movement. The only articulation issue I have is that the hinge in the foot is not plugged into the foot at the right angle to allow for the Marvel-Legends-style rocker ankles.
The paint is fantastic on this guy. His body is cast in a semi-translucent grey material that makes for a cool fleshtone base.
The chain mail parts are highlighted nicely with a dry brush, and the armor has perfect metallic paints. It’s all nice and sharp.
The QC on this figure is very good. The figure feels very solid and is a nice big hunk of plastic that is surprisingly poseable for such a thick, heavily armored figure.
Thanks to Funko for sending this figure along for review.
Check back the rest of this week for more Magic: The Gathering figures from Funko.
