Aaahh, yeah — the White Ranger, also known as Kiba Ranger from Gosei Sentai Dairanger, was a Season 2 addition to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I’d love to tell you that I know the reason why Saban decided to dip into another Super Sentai series and pull a different Ranger in, but I can’t. As I mentioned before, Power Rangers is based on Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger and, for the most part, stayed true to that series. Until the introduction of the White Ranger.
Played by the <https://thefwoosh.com/2014/09/bandai-s-h-figuarts-mighty-morphin-power-rangers-green-ranger>Green Ranger (Jason David Frank), the White Ranger was an instant success, and let’s face it, he looked way cooler than the Green Ranger. The White Ranger was the fella that got to pilot the White Tigerzord, which was really cool too. Here is where I have to point out something important: Mr. Frank is 5’11” and, at the time, a 20-something actor. Kiba Ranger was a tiny 9-year-old kid with powers. If you find production shots of Dairanger, you’ll see that he’s smaller than the rest of the crew.
That’s important for you scale freaks to know. Because S.H. Figuarts’ White Ranger is, in fact, shorter when compared to the rest of the Power Rangers. This means that the figure is somewhat in scale with Dairanger S.H. Figuarts, but not necessarily in scale with Power Rangers. I point this out as it is a bit of a point of discussion with Power Rangers/Super Sentai collectors.
White Ranger is another solid action figure from S.H. Figuarts. And he’s got some new parts. Gold cuffs are sculpted into his boots and gloves, he has a new belt, his chest armor is new, his shoulder pads are new, and, of course, his head is new. It’s great to finally have some variety in the figures; it gives us something to talk about. S.H. Figuarts did a great job sculpting this figure and it really is one to enjoy posed on a shelf.
The articulation is the exact same as we’ve seen before on the other Power Rangers — super-articulated goodness that allows you achieve just about any pose that you want. As this is the last S.H. Figuarts Power Ranger to review, I’ve gotta say that it’s been a huge pleasure playing with these figure and getting them ready for review. The engineering that went into the sculpting, articulation, and eventual manufacturing is really impressive. Bandai has their system and it works well.
As a fan of Power Rangers, you have to add him to your collection, and for those of you into Dairanger, this is an obvious choice for your collections. You can pick him today at:
