On the way to San Diego Comic-Con 2014 this summer, I got the chance to finally see The Amazing Spider-Man. What a fantastic movie! I think I cried like a baby during the ending. That, or jet-lag was seriously kicking in. Like many, I doubted the use of Jamie Foxx for the role of Electro, not because of his skin color, but, well, I didn’t see Jamie Fox pulling off the role. I was wrong. He nailed it! I loved every minute of screen time he had as a Electro! It was a good performance and a good movie.
The Electro toy, on the other hand, has some mixed results. I like the costume and the sculpt applied to the costume. The figure is well done and fits in with the Black Panther scale of Marvel Legends. There are extra hands and extra heads and everything looks good. This is a solid action figure. I do, however, have to point out a key flaw: the head and hands are really small. I mean, like, really small. Extraordinarily small. Compare him to Black Panther and you are left with “What the hell happened here?!” Seriously, a great figure munched by small scaling. And when you think about Spider-Man, the other movie figure in the Spider-Man Marvel Legends Infinites wave, his head is the right scale. So what happened with Electro? Hasbro’s done an incredible job with scaling up the head size, so why the bomb here?
The articulation is the same as Black Panther and the rest of the figures that we are seeing on Marvel Legends these days. There isn’t much to write about here that is new or different. I can say that I am incredibly impressed with the rocker foot and the ankle hinge on this figure. With the pants cuff, I was concerned that the range of motion would be limited, but it is, in fact, not. Well done, Hasbro! Here is the breakdown:

As mentioned, the figure comes with extra hands and an extra head — these are electrified versions! Yeah, I tried to get you excited about them, but truth is, they aren’t very exciting.
This figure makes me want an updated comic Electro figure, preferably a classic look, but I’d take the modern comic look as well. Hasbro! Make it happen!
