Morning Rush – The SDCC Hangover

SDCC-2014-Hasbro-Marvel-Legends-Thanos

Summer vacation is over and another San Diego Comic-Con with it. This year I managed to make it out the con and had a great time. Comic-Con is a fantasy, it’s a world that exists in a bubble, it’s a chance to meet Hollywood stars, Comic Book creators, Toy Designers and Manufacturers; a chance to exist on the same plane of reality for a short period of time.

You can walk down the street and nod your head at Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk as they are having a late night drink at a local restaurant, or see Ian Somerhalder walking down the street with his entourage.

Walking into the right bar and you see toy legends Phil Ramirez, Jerry Macaluso, or Ken Lilly having a chat about the good old days and how things have changed. It’s a chance to speak with Jerry Jivion and Dwight Stall about Transformers, G.I. Joe and Marvel Legends. Or share a beer and talk about DC Collectibles upcoming Batman the Animated Series line. A chance to catch up with Jesse Falcon, Dave Vonner, Zach Oat and many others that have a huge impact on the toy industry. It’s a time where you get to get caught up with old friends and make new friends. It’s a bubble.

That pops and leaves you with the worst hangover in the world. For the fwoosh, that hangover consists of reviews of Masters of the Universe Classics, Thanos Imperative, Jabba, Clone Troopers, Anakin, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Bandai S.H. Figuarts Power Ranger, Bandai S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla, and a ton more stuff. Not all hangovers are bad, in fact we are devoting August to celebrating SDCC 2014!
