The Big Rush for Toy Fair 2014 is over. Hasbro, Mattel, Playmates, Funko, ThreeA Toys, Play Arts, NECA, LEGO. We still have some booths to cover and some news to report and appointments to keep. We’ll be doing a lot of follow up over the next few days/weeks, VeeBee and Hagop need a chance to process all this information and then write some articles. The rest of the staff needs to munch through this and start to form some opinions, ones that aren’t filled with pabs and Robokillah going “OMG!!! SO AWESOME!!!”, sharing their nerdgasms all over the front page.
Yesterday was another strong day for the fwoosh. Fwooshers love Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is great! It’s not a toyline I ever collected but it is great to see love for six inch super articulated TMNT product. Yesterday you all remembered Mattel and their product, while I’ve never collected Masters of the Universe Classics (only the beasts), I love that this line is still strong amongst fwooshers. There was an extra nugget with Rio Blast yesterday if you missed that, check it out here. Still sad to see DC Universe Classics die into Super Powers, but there are some gems like Superman and Kalibak.
Funko’s Magic: The Gathering continues to be strong and it’s great to see so much love for six inch fantasy figures. I plan on spending some time over the next few weeks educating myself about the main characters and story behind the figures being shown. And no, don’t expect me to get all into the game. But I love to have background behind the characters. Hm… I smell a write up coming soon.
I think I saw in the media files Play Arts pictures, Bandai pictures, and more NECA. NECA was still strong yesterday and it’s good to see them getting lots of love. NECA do an amazing job as a design and manufacturer and the make some fantastic product.
I’ll have a Bandai article up in a few shakes of a lamb’s tail. I have some opinions on what was shown and I hope VB got my questions answered…
