Many thanks to Robokillah for keeping all of us updated via The Fwoosh Happy Hour over the weekend. There were 2 amazing things that happened, the first was Winter WonderFest in Japan. This is a huge Toy/Model/Hobby event in Japan similar to Toy Fair or SDCC or NYCC in the States. It’s a chance for toy companies to show off some upcoming product. And wow did they!
Right, my brain is still processing all the Figma goodness. First. Avengers. Awesome. Let’s start with Major Motoko Kusanagi from Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell. Wow. Awseome. Words just, finally a six inch scaled figure from Ghost in the Shell. And it’s Figma to boot. And looks amazing. I only hope that this opens the door for more Shirow works like six inch scaled Appleseed figures from Figma. Staying with the Figma love, ninjas. Red Ninjas, from Ninja Slayer, a book you get on Amazon.com. While I know nothing about the book, I know about Ninjas, and I know that there will be a big order dropping in someone’s pre-orders for multiple ninjas. Figma is continuing with their Nintendo licenses with Samus in her blue suit and new Link figure. The best part of the showing was Figma’s Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill video games. Holy moly! If they start cranking out figures based on the Silent Hill series I will be a happy camper for life.
There is also a Figma Zombie figure coming and I am so excited about this figure. Six inch superposable zombies. vs Ninja Slayers. Make me some Figma clowns and robots and we are golden. Robokillah covered the Avengers already, but what happened to Hulk? C’mon! Figma! Marvel! Disney! Whoever! Get these figures into my grubby hands! They look awesome and will be a welcome addition my… eh… Japanese action figure display. I was gonna say Marvel Legends, but they aren’t going to fit there per se. Hmm. A dilemma. Right. On to S.H. Figuarts. let me start by saying I am still campaigning for Bandai to get me some Dark Souls action figures in the old six inch scale. Seriously, show me some Ricard or Tarkus A.S.A.P. Although I don’t really know what I would do with myself if they actually made these figures.
Bandai also had some stuff to show off, but I only care about one thing. Naruto. Pure Awesome, please get this figure and the rest of the cast out! I’ll buy them all! And there there was this:
Which looks like Sadako Yamamura from Hideo Nakata’s 1998 Ring. Holy crap in a hat. How about that? Horror figures from S.H. Figuarts. They do Ju-on and I’m all in. Or not. Those movies scare the hell out of me.
Oh, the second amazing thing that happened? Leaked pictures of Funko’s Game of Thrones figures. Whoa. Why didn’t these guys get The Hobbit license? That would have been awesome. And then go back and give them Lord of the Rings while you are at it.
