Hasbro – Wolverine Legends Emma Frost

Boobs.

Wow, talk about a rack. I don’t know what to think here. Emma Frost, the once glamorous White Queen of the Hellfire Club, once again finds herself being made in toy form. And it’s a good toy. Part of the Hasbro Wolverine Legends action figure line that came out in the Fall of 2013, this is an amazing figure. She’s got the whole “Marissa Miller” look going on. You know the look — super tall, uber-skinny, and a rack that most people would get lost in.

Emma Frost is classic comic character from the Marvel Universe and one that I’ve wanted a good toy version of for my collection. My introduction was through Uncanny X-Men #129 (in 1980), a comic I read at a local grocery store. She was a major player there and continued to be a thorn in the X-Men’s side until the launch of Generation X when she started taking on a more heroic role in the Marvel Universe. Eventually she joined the X-Men, taking on the role of Scott Summer’s lover. And, to be honest, I liked it. The Scott Summers/Jean Grey love affair was good while it lasted, but the constant dying and rebirth of Jean Grey has to take a toll on a man. His turn to Emma is a good one. It’s not necessarily emotionally stable right now, but I like the direction. During the past decade, she’s been turned into an interesting persona in the Marvel Universe.

The figure uses the Hasbro female figure that, I think, first debuted with the Hasbro Marvel Legends 2-packs Elektra and has been heavily reused since. It’s a good solid base figure, but there is a large part of the collector community that wishes this base figure would eat a burger. Luckily Black Cat has. Emma still suffers from … not man hands … but ginormous hands; it’s one of the few things that really needs to be fixed on this base. Hasbro added the new rocker ankles to this figure and some high heels. Very nice. However, this makes the figure very tall. I gots no problem with tall womens, but there are some folk out there that prefer their women smalls. To each his own.

As you can see on my figure, the articulation works and she can stand on her own and pose well. The heels do provide some challenges, but not much. The articulation breakdown is as follows:

•rocker ankles
•hinged ankles
•double knees
•swivel thighs
•ball hips
•swivel waist
•ball shoulders
•swivel biceps
•hinged elbows
•swivel wrists
•hinged wrists
•ball head

The colors on the figure are pretty interesting. The skin-colored plastic is one of the better colors I’ve seen. I like it, and the sheen makes it look all sweaty/glistening. I thought I would mention that since there isn’t much to say about the paint on this primarily white-and-flesh-colored figure. The head, well, Hasbro’s eye paints leave a lot to be desired. I should send this figure off for fixing since it’s just awful, which is sad since the sculpt is there.

I don’t have much to say about this figure. We’ve seen the sculpt before, and outside of the heels and new chest there isn’t much to mention. The new lower legs are nice, and for those of you wanting to mod your previous Maria Hills, Sharon Carters, and whoever, you have a fodder figure to work from.
