Batman of Zur-En-Arrh. Do you have the guts to take on this concept? Of course you do because you never dreamed you would own this figure. From Planet X to Earth, we have your pictures right here.

Don’t be coy with me — you know you never thought this figure would grace your action figure shelf. An alternate planet Batman (that fought as Bruce’s ally way back when), the idea was brought back and morphed to a subconscious alternate personality of Bruce Wayne by Grant Morrison. You know, back when DC was giving him carte blanche to do whatever weird thing he wanted?

Well, if that revival is what lead to our getting this figure, then hot dog, I am glad for it. I mean, THE Batman from the Planet X story — I thought I would at least have Liberty Belle before him. I will continue to hope. While I do, though, I will smile knowing that we are at place and time now that can allow us to get some characters like this.

The figure is built on the standard “buff” DCUC body, but he has a new head, cape, cape spikes, and belt. There was not a Batman that has come before that had a cell phone on his belt, so new tooling was required. He comes with his trusty baseball bat and a new version of the Batmite pack-in figure. I think I actually like this one better than the previous version that came with E-2 Batman — the bottom lip sticking out just hammers the feeling of the character home.

This particular sample has some slightly weak ankles, not bad, but not as tight as some of the more recent figures that we have gotten, so I don’t know if that is just this figure, or if it will be a common trait of the entire run. The rest of the joints are solid and can pose well; he can certainly achieve a convincing baseball batter’s stance.

Do I need to convince you that you need this figure in your collection? Probably not, but I am going to go ahead and say it anyway: you  need this figure in  your collection. Luckily, he is already hitting store shelves, and Amazon has him in-stock right now with free shipping if you do the Prime thing.

THIS is the type of figure/character that I was hoping we would get in the Batman Unlimited line. I realize that Injustice and the nU52 are what is current at the moment, but if Mattel keeps throwing us bones like this, they will hold my interests for more and more figures. Batman has an expansive corner of the overall DC Universe, so there are a lot of characters left to do. Ra’s, Talia, Gordon and myriad of other come to mind. Let’s see them all!

*Thanks for checking out the pictures and thanks to the DC team at Mattel for sending along Planet X Batman for a preview. He will stand with the legends of the DCU and be right at home.
