ThreeA Toys – Action Portable Zombs!

In my continuing love affair with ThreeA Toys, I bring you an article featuring a massive pictorial of ThreeA Toys’ latest release: Action Portable Zombs. When I embarked on this article I thought about breaking it up into individual articles for each of the figures, but then realized that after, I think, up to 14 known variants you, the faithful fwooshers, would be at my doorstep with torches and pitchforks in hand ready to tar, feather, and drag me through the streets.

Instead, I’ll handle my order in this article and when Indy, Canonball and the rest get their booty in they can write their own articles. as you’ve seen in my other article (linked here) I’ve picked up Shadow Zomb, Black and White Choose Death Zombs, and Pink Feather HoodZomb (or hands-in-my-pocket Zomb). All the figures were part of the great Action Portable Zombkin and Zomb sale in October 2011 at Bambaland Store. Shadow Zomb was a 3AA exclusive, meaning that you had to have a 2011 membership to get him. The rest were all blind-box sales, meaning that when you ordered, you had no idea what ones you were ordering and what ones you’d be getting. Good times.

The sale also featured a 3-pack, but those have not shipped yet (and, yes, there will be an article for them).

The figures sport the same body as we’ve seen on the Action Portable de Plumes and Tomorrow Kings. The figures have new hands–zombie hands–and a variety of heads. The heads are shrunken-down versions of the Zomb1, Zomb2, Zomb4, or Zombot heads, with brand new Warzomb (Or Vietzomb) heads in the mix. For my loot, I was blessed with Zomb1 and Zomb2 heads. Zomb1 only appears on the Shadow Zomb and in the 3-pack, while Pink HoodZomb, and the Choose Death Zombs sport Zomb2 heads.

Zombs in boiler suits are sporting a type of work boot, while Zombs in tattered street clothes (Choose Life Zombs) are sporting something akin to Converse All Stars. Neither shoe allows for much in the way of ankle articulation, but they look fabulous.

All Zomb clothes are tattered. Shadow Zomb is sporting a boiler suit, Pink HoodedZomb has a hooded boiler suit and the Choose Life twins have Capri pants and long t-shirts. The Choose Life twins’ outfits are sporting pants that we’ve seen before on Tomorrow Kings, but the long-sleeve t-shirt is new and has not been seen on a portable figure until today. The boiler suits are new and I looove them! They have usable pockets. You heard me–pockets! The hands fit in the pockets! At this scale! So freaking cool. The one complaint I have with the boiler suits is they look a little tight in the crotch. Not that Zombs care.

But the real question that everyone wants answered is were these worth the 10-month wait and the mounds of cash spent? Yes, yes they are worth every penny and if I had the balls I would have ordered more. The aftermarket is going to go bananas with these, so best of luck to those of you unhappy with the ones you got and those who now want. Oh, and you can send your Zombs to me if you don’t want ’em!
