Bringing more ThreeA love to the eZine! April 2011 ThreeA Toys offered up some figure packs for order, the 2 Pack Jungle and the 3 Pack Swingers set. The 2 pack includes Jung de Plume and the Jungler Dropcloth. All figures are portable scale or 1/12 – 6 inch and both characters are being produced for the for the first time as portables. Both figures in this set originally made an appearance in the 12 inch scale.
Jung is another colorway of the Nom de Plume offered sometime ago by ThreeA. This figure sports some well done camouflage and is another great addition. Unlike the other de Plumes, Jung is not an alternate identity for Nom. Nom is our hero in the World War Robot universe and has operated as Noir de Plume, the moniker he took when working with the Dirty Deeds squad. Gebi de Plume was Nom’s codename during the Gobi basin battle between Martian and Terran forces. However Blanc de Plume is his own and not a Nom identity, you’ll remember him from the Martin 3×3 set. Jung is Kuan ti Plume’s comrade, Kuan is one of the first fallen. What that means I have no real idea, but I’ll make something up in my universe of Robots vs Humans vs Zombies vs Mythical creatures, in fact I treat all my Plumes as individuals.
This set includes a shot gun, machete, and gatling gun. I’ve paired my Gatling gun up with Gebi, he seemed to need a big ass camouflaged gun more than Jung or Jungler.
Included in this set is another Dropcloth, Jungler. As mentioned from the 3 Pack I’m in love with the Dropcloths at this scale. Dropcloth’s are human sized robots and they seem to be real bastards, no matter which faction they are made for. There is another portable scaled Dropcloth that was released as an SDCC 2011 exclusive, Slaughterhouse. I’m not certain where the Jungler resides but based on the cammo and the box descriptions, he’s more than likely a Jungle/Forest bot.
As mentioned in the 3 pack review, Dropcloths are my current favorite bots. The hands are the best part, they are ball jointed at the wrist and each finger is jointed. They have ball joints attaching them to the palm, and then the three parts of the finger are attached at a hinged joint. We’ve seen this before on the larger robots but this is the first attempt I know of on a figure this size. I don’t know if I’ve seen an attempt like this before, either by Bandai or another company. Not even Toy Biz at the peak of Marvel Legends ever attempted articulation like this.
There are drawbacks, the fingers are incredibly fragile and they are can be loose. They have trouble holding the shotgun or sidearm. But I’m not complaining, I love the insane attempt and I love the posing that comes from them.
And the wows don’t stop there. The paint applications and weathering are again simply amazing. The figure comes with tatoos and wonderful markings making it a fun figure to hold in your hand and turn over looking for new and exciting details.
This is another must have set, any set including a human soldier is a must have, and any set including a Gatling gun is a must have. And now that Dropcloth’s are my favorite this is a must have.
