The hits just keep on coming! Once again the good guys at Mattel come though and send along this early sample of their upcoming, Target exclusive Gorilla Grodd Collector Set. Read on for the lowdown and all the pictures for this latest JLU addition scheduled to hit late Fall/early Winter.
Grodd. The giant simian with the giant intellect was a staple thorn in the side of the "World’s Greatest Superheroes" on the hit show Justice League Unlimited. Fans have been pining for Grodd to be added to their plastic Justice League for a long time, but I can assure you, the wait was worth it. Grodd is BIG and heavy, probably the most solid JLU figure yet. He also has a great likeness to his 2-D counterpart, cemented by a smug, I-am-smarter-than-you smirk. Overall, one of the nicest JLU figures Mattel has done.

But there is a lot more to this set than just a big hairy ape. Also included in this set is Joker as the Red Hood. Now, aside from being a really cool variant based off of the previously released Joker figure, the Red Hood alter-ego sets an interesting and exciting precedence for the the DC Animated Universe. Red Hood never actually appeared in the JLU cartoon so his inclusion in this set could mean exciting times are ahead for fans of this line. Since Mattel has secured the rights to produce figures from the entire DC lexicon more characters are likely to appear in the animated style in the future.
Rounding out the member of the Legion of Doom in this set is a repaint of the Lex Luthor figure, this time sporting his color scheme from the final season on JLU.
Finally, what good are bunch of super-villains of they don’t have anyone to match wits with? Mattel has you covered with the inclusion of Superman, Batman and the Flash. Check out the pics!
