As many of you know, we turned off the forum search function a while ago – the Fwoosh has had a pretty steady growth rate over the past few years, and when the forum hit a certain point, we discovered that the indexing function that built the search tables was causing the Fwoosh to crash.
We’re were having regular outages, so we said goodbye to search.
Now, that doesn’t mean that we’ve haven’t heard the requests to bring back search capabilities in the forums. we’ve just been looking for a good way to do it.
We’re going to give Google Search a try. you should see a Fwoosh Search box in the sidebar on the right (if it’s not there now, it’ll be there soon). Give it a shot. Let us know how you like or dislike it.
There are two caveats: one is that the results will only be as recent as the last time Google has indexed us. I’ve been looking, and it’s hitting us pretty regularly – but still, you may not see things that have been posted in the last couple of days.
The second is that we may need to pull the search box out, if it’s unstable or hurting performance in any way. But for now, keep your fingers crossed!
