  1. Ugh! I want this line and will most likely get it, but the same thing that annoyed me about Pizza Spidey annoys me about this Spidey. Why the hell couldn’t they make the joint pins on the inside of the arm blue? I remember I passed on pizza Spidey the first time around. I looked at it and said, sculpt wise, this would be the perfect Spidey if they had painted those pins blue. After I bought him I also realized he needed more articulation on the hips but I worked past that particular rough spot in my life.

  2. Hasbro always makes the eyes so far apart on its head sculpts…they all look like hammerhead sharks…(j/k)

  3. Yeah, I think it’s cool they’re trying both POA. I suggested it a while back on this site. Hopefully, they’re engineered well and work effectively. Maybe if they do, they’ll try putting both torso POA on a 6″ ML? Spider-Man seems like a natural character to give more POA.

  4. Nice! They added a boot cut for Spiderman, something the 6 inch figure really needed!!!

  5. Well said, capt. Exemplary logic! Magnificent!
Nice to see someone anchoring facts in tandem to thier opinions as well as tact and diplomacy.
    Well done. Thank you,sir.
INDEED. I also enjoy the LEGENDS line and elected to keep it a staple in my collecting when my income took a recent reduction. Ive often been described as being “overly optimistic”,a compliment to me,but even being objective and fair I find no genuine criticisms to be severely grievous about in the MARVEL LEGENDS toy line. Toys are to bring joy. It is a hobby after all.
A luxury item and not a right nor necessity.
    ?Shalom.

  6. You recognize his premise to be “sense” yet call it “very flawed.” Those are your emotions acting without the benefit of intellect.
    Curious and most illogical,capt.
    ?Shalom.

  7. One thing I like about these 12″ Legends is that they seem to have the DC Icons-style lower ab/waist crunch, in addition to a diaphragm joint on top.

  8. I also wonder. Sculpts are done digitally for the most part, and I wonder how much artistry goes into it from Hasbro’s part. The scans from Lucasfilm, then they’re translated onto whatever system Hasbro uses. No one is brain storming on how make a better looking Darth Vader
Even when they weren’t using computers, it’s not like sculptors were making a ton of money. The number I found is $40k for a scuptor. Even that seems high.

  9. All due respect it was more than a “few” years ago, capt. Unless we have different definitions of abstract words like “few”. To me,few is less than five and it’s been more than five years.
Meanwhile the One12th scale LEGENDS were $8.00 over a decade ago.
10 years ago they were $10. Now ?%mark up is the new standard msrp. Thus the new “ICONS” $25×2=$50 in 2016. Aye. Sure.
Because of the movie hype around the Avengers,I agree that THIS may never go any deeper than the “big guns”.
Personally,I MAY grab Spidey and Cap to supplement my old ICON founding Avengers!
    ?Shalom.

  10. I think that would almost make sense; twice as big so twice the price. The thing is these are more than twice as big. There is twice as much surface area, but what? like 5 times more volume? I don’t see how five times more plastic, and twice as much paint (considering Hasbro will paint the back) equals twice as expensive, not even mentioning how many of these you could fit in a shipping crate, how much aisle space they’d take up…

  11. You must get paid to complain. There’s so much joy in your “work”! Lol
We all have free will,so it isn’t just Hasbro that can “do what they want”friend.
What I want is to cling to sense and sound reason and facts and not exclusively my whim and emotions. Ergo economics isn’t some made up bogey man it’s actually happening. Not just supply and demand but also inflation. The arrow of time IS moving forward, sir.
NOT backward. Comics used to cost a dime in the golden era, water was free and so was tv in the 1950s’ 2000 LEGENDS were eight dollars then $10 in 2006 NOW $20setting the standard for commercial 6″toy figures. Change is a constant in life. Deal with it.
Mattels Multiverse etc 6” figures are priced at the same standard of $20.
Complaints won’t change the Market or put any money in MY❤ pockets.
BTW the ICON line was $20-$25back in 2007,so 2016@$50is on point.
    ?Shalom

  12. ‘Big FAN of the SMALL toys’
The 3.75″ line CAME with stands&accessories(past tense) NOW $14+ and none of the Above while qc issues have plagued the line i.e. paint, articulation reduction, scale inconsistencies…
The3.75″ so-called Vintage line WAS superior to the 6″TBS until recent re-brand of the lines. Huh “progress”
    ?Shalom.

  13. That’s why as fans we must complain. Hasbro will do what they want because they can. People envision the market sets the price, BS. Those who own can charge what they want and do what they want and everyone else will be left in the dust.

I have a nice paying job but I am well aware of artificial pricing and supple and demand is something nice in theory but the real world is harsh to those who have been around. Hasbro can do what they want when pricing everything and TBS is proof.

  14. What you say makes sense but Legends are overpriced if you look at what is being delivered and where the costs were and have gone. You can point to other cost or variables, but to almost triple the price of 10 years ago is insane and screams something else.

That is my logic and I could be wrong. People have a right to talk about things being overpriced. Don’t like, don’t get em is nice in theory but very flawed.

  15. Could be right but the type of increase is a little fishy to be honest. Just using logic and everything we know about business the conclusion is Hasbro is inflating the prices. Mattel is not really doing much and the only competition is Japanese figure companies. NECA is too small and is doing other types of figures.

I agree with the fact that Hasbro is pushing the limits in terms of cost. Stunt could be right but logic tells me, maybe it is just my logic, that Hasbro is doing it because they can.

  16. It is true that manufacturing costs, or at least labor costs, have increased since Icons came out, and I’d say the price difference between those and the figures above seems to be about the same increase we’ve seen elsewhere. Hasbro may be pushing the price of these a little bit but I doubt it’s all that different from any of their other lines.

  17. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t double the price when they’re using double the materials. They’re also using more paint, require more packaging, and cost more to ship. They’ll also take up more shelf space, and likely sell at a lower volume than even the Marvel Legends line.

Maybe I’m wrong though, and none of that actually matters when it comes to making and selling toys.

  18. Yeah, I was thinking you meant the figures that were basically two-ups of their regular lines. Quite a bit of difference between those and the Icons line.

Of course, these look like they’re just two-ups of the regular Legends line. I know new molds can be expensive, but is it still considered “new” if it’s the same parts double sized?

  19. I don’t see what’s so minimal about these paint apps. From the pictures here, they look rather good. They don’t exclude any necessary details and the pieces look sharp. Admittedly Iron could be a bit more of a metallic color, but what else do you want?

  20. You’ve got a good point, but I still definitely think TBS could have at least a few more accessories.

  21. I was talking about the “Icons” line that started with Toy Biz and ran for a few series. Hasbro picked it up and did a few waves, with the final ones being Toys R’ Us exclusives. Those final figures were Daredevil, Colossus, Phoenix, Nightcrawler. I saw many of those on clearance.

I don’t know who first suggested that these could be a more affordable alternative to premium 12″ lines like Hot Toys, but that comparison really kills any enthusiasm I had. These look nice, but very simple with minimal paint apps. Things like those red pegs on Spidey’s blue arms strike me as out of place in a premium line like I think this was pitched as. $50 just seems too steep for these.

  22. Their 6 inch line is $20. This is double the size, so, double the price… fine with me.

  23. Finally someone who actually praises the good work that Hasbro does instead of crtiticize everything. I understand some complaints but other-wise, Hasbro’s stuff isn’t crap as many would lead you believe.

  24. I agree with you. I don’t think Stunt knows what he was talking about. I am not sure why Hasbro is charging so much outside of “Because they can.”

I feel the extra accessories might push these to 25-30 at most but with legends sitting at already overpriced limits, they had no choice but to make double the size double the money. Imaging if these were the same price of Legends everyone would question why Legends are costing 20 dollars?

So I think Hasbro is artificially raising the prices. I think they are now using less parts than toybiz, a cheaper plastic, and almost no paint detailing. So this is a tough sell if you really critically think about it and not passively watch.

  25. I totally agree. TBS started off great, Darth Maul came with an entire other head just for the cloak sculpt. Han Solo came with another pair of hands that saw screen time for about 15 seconds?

Now it’s bullshit. They took out double jointed elbows and the accessories are slim. At NYCC last year Hasbro said how the super articulated 3.75″ line actually costs almost the same as the 6″ black series for them to make.

So then it makes sense, Hasbro sees their niche, collector’s line gain popularity and then basically almost completely end their 3.75″ line and go full onto the 6″ line because there’s much greater profits to be had.

  26. I understand that, but I still don’t bellieve we’re getting our moneys worth. The sculpts are good, as shown by some of the amazing repaints, but the 3.75 inch line came with a slew of accessories and options. Not to mention stands. Most of those were only $7-8 too at which price I was much less critical of things like articulation and paint. I question how much a new sculpt really costs them. Kylo Ren should’ve come with extra hands and an Adam driver head in my opinion.

  27. I have no interest in owning 12″ figures, but these do look quite nice. I’d say Pete is perfect, but those red pins give me agita.

  28. If I could play devil’s advocate, Black Series is heavy on unique sculpts, which means unique tooling, and that affects what accesories are included. And most of it will only be used once. Legends, on the other hand, is heavy on reuse, with only the heads being the new sculpt, so that’s how Hasbro can give us more accesories and build a figures. I know we are getting three new sculpts rigt off the bat with the 12″ scale, but I’m sure these will become pretty generic further into the line.

  29. I’d have to disagree that the Icons figures from ToyBiz were simpler or had fewer paint apps. The extra heads and hands seem to be the only place where the new Hasbro offerings are significantly better.

  30. 10 years ago, manufacturing costs were a lot lower, and those older Toy Biz figures were a lot simpler, with fewer parts. and paint apps. I’m sure it costs Hasbro more to license these characters now as well.

What is the other 12″ line that you’re talking about, that was a Toys R’ Us Exclusive? Famous Covers?

  31. This 12″ Marvel line was last attempted as a Toys R’ Us exclusive at a price point of $20-25. Now, a few years later, they’re hoping to succeed at a $50 price. The addition of extra heads and accessories is nice, but this is double the price from a few years ago. It’s five times the price of the Toy Biz 12″ figures from a decade ago. This scale never seems to take off, but maybe they just want to sell a few of the big guns at this scale.

  32. Yes, these look great. I’m really hoping that Hasbro gives us the extra Peter Parker and Tony Stark heads in the 6″ Marvel Legends.
I think Hasbro is ‘doing us right’ in the wonderful 6″ Legends line and I’m very happy with the quality of the figures and the character selection. Right on, Hasbro!!

  33. if these have the same paint apps and lack of QC that normal Legends and star wars black series then why bother???? nah’mean. I don’t need a bigger figure if yall still can fix paint QC. its like who cares fix what your already doing first

  34. I don’t like to hate on companies because I know a lot of hard work goes into every product we get, but I have to agree with you there. The Black Series could be so much more.

  35. Yes, it definitely seems like Hasbro is catching on… I hope this isn’t just a passing thing.

  36. Meanwhile star wars six inch black series gets nothing. No build a figure pieces, no extra hands or heads (minus a few irregularities), and lame accessories.

  37. I’d really like to see this Iron Man shrunk down to the 6 inch scale to give us a generic but awesome comic iron man armor figure

  38. You know, I am rather happy more Western companies are making their figures with different heads and interchangable hands. Might not be the quantity of, say, Figuarts but it’s a nice start non-the-less.
