This modern version of Iron Fist was originally going to be released as a running change for Protector from the Hit Monkey Marvel Legends wave, and though we saw carded versions of Iron Fist online, he never materialized in stores until now. Let’s take a closer look at the Immortal Iron Fist!
Iron Fist comes with the requisite build-a-figure part and three sets of extra, kung fu move appropriate, hands.
The hands take me back to the old days of the SOTA Street Fighter figures with their extra hands and heads and they definitely add a lot to the figure for my dollar. I like the extra poseability they afford.
Iron Fist looks like he is mostly made up of the old Hasbro take on the Bullseye body, a figure base Legends buyers are very familiar with, with new parts for the lower arms and legs.
I know a lot fans don’t like the Bullseye base or Hasbro’s iteration of it, but I like it okay for slimmer build characters and the new lower arms and legs add a new quality to the base.
The hands seem slightly overlarge, but that works for me in a martial arts character.
The head looks like Iron Fist, though I think proportionately, it’s a little small.
The articulation is as follows
- Swivel/Hinged shoulders, wrists, ankles, neck and hips
- Single hinged abs and pecs
- Double hinged knees and elbows
Paint is pretty minimal here with most of the parts cast in plastic matching the final color. The tampos used to denote the forearm wraps and the symbol are both really crisp and nice.
Despite my preference for classic costumes in Marvel Legends, this figure hits high marks for me. I never really liked the original ML Iron Fist due to his odd shoulders and this is a nicer looking figure to my eyes. It’s also nice to see figures that were planned and not produced get a release.
