TakaraTomy- Transformers Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, and Eva Convoy

AmiAmi has added new pics from the Tokyo Toy Show to their Facebook page and, at least for me, one of the highlights is the Transformers Masterpiece on display. TF MP is still a new habit for me and all things Masterpiece are still shiny so I can just hear my bank account crying out whenever I see new pictures.

Here’s the display pieces of Wheeljack and Bumblebee. We’ve seen a lot of promo for them so nothing new but it’s always nice to see a toy you don’t have yet in plastic form. I’m thrown by the Autobot logo on Bee’s foot and I’m not sure why but it’s something I’ll have to live with. The face also looks a tiny bit off, another thing I can’t quite put my finger on. Wheeljack is just pure TF perfection though.

We finally get to see Ultra Magnus in color and while the initial pose of the display piece brought decisions into question, like the bulk and shoulder joint, I think the second picture standing in a neutral pose sells the figure for me. Mostly. I need to see more.

For the first time we see Star Saber in plastic form and he looks great! I’m not as familiar with this characters as I am with the original G1 crew but I do love me some nice looking bot forms, so yeah. I am probably grabbing this.

What I’ll probably be passing on is the Convoy in EVA decoration. Don’t get me wrong, it looks amazing and I’m all for color variations, but as a TakaraTomy Mall and Evangelion Store exclusive going for $245 and limited to 1,000 pieces I don’t think a divorce would be worth it. I’m saving those lawyer fees for a kickass in scale Megatron, whenever that should come to pass.

Finally, not Masterpiece but still Transformers, Rodimus and Shockwave Cloud figures. Basically repaints of Springer and Whirl. Exclusive to e-hobby these will cost quite a bit more than picking them up locally but man does that Rodimus look good. Shockwave…not so much.
