Out of nowhere Medicom announces their MAFEX Black Panther!
And I’m completely good with it. I’m one of those guys who doesn’t care too much for the S.H. Figuarts Panther. It looks great sculpt-wise but the proportions are a bit wonky, the articulation is limited, and they skimped on the accessories. Maybe the MAFEX will be better, like the Homecoming Spider-Man showdown?
I already like the overall look of the MAFEX better. At 160 mm, it should fairly well in the rest of the display. The sculpt is lithe, agile looking. And it looks to back up those claims when it comes to range of movement too.
Accessories include several sets of super detailed hands, a spear, and alternate heads. Masked, masked with visible eyes, and unmasked.
I still get worried about Medicom’s unmasked heads. Usually we see something spectacular in prototype form but the final product leaves a lot to be desired. They have been improving though. We’ll get a better idea once the Iron Spider releases in a few months.
Speaking of shipping soon, Black Panther will not. He’s scheduled to release August 2019 and given what we’re used to with MAFEX, it’ll be a month or two after that. It’ll set you back about $70. Better to just pre-order and then forget all about it. I do.
