Dasin Model: Tom and Jerry

What’s this? Super-articulated Tom and Jerry figures? But how? When? What scale? Where can I pre-order them?

The simple answer is…I don’t know. Well, I ran across a pre-order page at China Model Toys but that’s the only one I can find. Nowhere else. And with no info other than the pre-order window is for the next 30 days. Why?

I don’t know.

But these are pretty.

Alternate faces and hands, accessories, articulation, beautiful colors. These seem to have them all. If I didn’t know any better I’d think they were S.H. Figuarts. And the site even lists them as such.

But they aren’t. Which made me a little leary of the actual existence of these figures. But there are other Dasin Model (an arm of Great Toys Company, which is such a generic name that nothing of note comes up in a search) figures on China Model Toys listed as being available right now. Also listed as SHF.

It being April and the internet just chock full of humor pertaining to fools, I still thought it was fake. Sure enough though, here’s a picture I found of the prototypes from last October.

So these do seem to be legit.

Still, no sense of scale. No release date. A short window to order on one site I’ve never used. Still, at $42 I’m going to have to bite.

Oooo, mystery. What will happen? Stay tuned!

UPDATE: This weibo post lists it as 14 cm, or 5.5 inches tall. I’m assuming that’s for Tom. But the link also seems to bring up possible copyright issues, so there’s that. Thanks to Ric Eusebio for the link!
