Re: Daredevil, Elektra, Bullseye Three-Pack
It's funny how the mind can work sometimes. Frank Miller's DD is my quintessential version of the character. I was going through some images of the Miller DD and while his costume is clearly all the same shade of red, I distinctly have this image of Miller sometimes showing DD in silhouette with the body being mostly blacked out with the gloves and boots being red. I think this is why I always pictured the gloves and boots being a different shade of red from the rest of the costume. I think a simple black line where the gloves and boots would be would have been enough of to make it resemble the comic art. They definitely should have done that with his chest emblem. There's no excuse for that not being done.

I'm gonna wait for the improved single DD release. I'm done playing Hasbro's game.

I don't blame you. At the same time, the last time Hasbro released Magneto, an A+-level villain, it was in a three-pack.

Yeah people always criticize the cel shading when it comes to Daredevil but that’s how he’s usually associated in the comics for the better part of 60 years so it’s kind of essential for the figures to have that kind of color palate too. Otherwise these companies are just missing the mark in their execution of the character.DaThing wrote:It's funny how the mind can work sometimes. Re: Daredevil, Elektra, Bullseye Three-Pack
I've said it before, but it bears repeating, I don't need toy companies to paint lighting on my figures. That's what actual lighting is for, that's what lights are for. When they do cel shading you are locked into whatever lighting scheme they used when designing the paint job. I would rather use real lights and real shadows to achieve whatever my desired lighting effect is.
I want my figures to look like the character, not like the character in one specific light condition, but painted correctly so I can get numerous different lighting schemes with the figure by using, well, lights.

This post is so funny to me. (I agree btw, I'm not in favor of cel shading)Nik wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 9:54 pmI've said it before, but it bears repeating, I don't need toy companies to paint lighting on my figures. Hopefully they re-release DD alone with boots and gloves that have a different shade of red and more paint apps in general.
If not, oh well. I'll wait for the eventual Mafex classic Matt.
I don't really care, personally, because I'm going to be fine with the Mafex version, but for those who don't buy Mafex or can't bring themselves to mix lines, it sucks. The Family Matters 3-pack Magneto is pretty disappointing, considering he is, as you mentioned, an A+++ villain.

I've been close to pulling the plug on my pre-order, and I think I'm just going to show some willpower and cancel it. Don't need Bullseye or a white costume Elektra.MLNUT wrote:I'm gonna wait for the improved single DD release. I'm done playing Hasbro's game.

That's true, and absurd. I've been expecting they'd release a new, upgraded classic Magneto in 2023 as part of the X-Men 60th celebration, and maybe they still will, but it wasn't part of the Rektangular leaks.TheSameIdiot wrote:I don't blame you. Again the only reason I’d buy this was for Elektra, that hair sculpt is amazing (and shouldve been used for the Retro Dark Phoenix)

I’m sure I’ll have more thoughts once it’s released, but I still say she is short of being perfect for not including the bald head.

Want good ML Daredevil figure, not going to pay 80$ for it, I'd rather wait for Mafex version. I also don't like what they did with his logo on the chest. You can barely see it.
They should use this Elektra\Shriek body, paint it white and blue and release a better classic Mystique. You already have all parts. Like...you want new collectors to build Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, but that Walgreens Mystique figure cost 80$ now. And it wasn't even good.

I was pretty thrilled to get a Jim Lee-esque 90's Magneto in that 3-Pack, But I guess I missed the controversy with Magneto? What was the issue? I know that Quicksilver's head is kind of a fail lol...

I think the issue is you are forced to buy a three pack to get a key villain.KolobosRexx wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 1:26 amI was pretty thrilled to get a Jim Lee-esque 90's Magneto in that 3-Pack, But I guess I missed the controversy with Magneto? I really want both DD and Elektra in white, so I'm still stoked for this set. If they release another DD that has fancier paint apps, this one will be super-easy to turn into a pinless Deadpool.

If Venom rates two waves (I say this as a Venom fan), there's no reason Daredevil shouldn't get at least one wave. He's got enough villains and allies to at least make for two good solid waves.
