Todd's writing is dogshit, I think it's turned away creators possibly because he HAS to have so much control - as if it's good or not directionless. Nonetheless I'm here for the art and that's badass. So I want more Batman/Spawn in some fashion. Honestly I kinda started thinking the one-shot was done for the express purpose of making toys - it certainly wasn't done because he had a great story in mind.

Yeah, Todd should probably just stick to drawing. Some of his 90's "Spider-Man" stuff wasn't terrible (for the time), but none of those issues were going to win any Eisners for their writing.

That said, the art on the new Batman/Spawn was pretty good, and that's what the figures will be based on, so the story doesn't really matter. I didn't read it, and don't plan to, but I may pick up the figures. Although, after the the blue Hush figure comes out I may not need anymore comic Batman figures, and I don't really care for Spawn as a character, so I may not pick them up after all.

Stopped at my local Walmart today and they re did the toy aisle. The DC Multiverse figures were moved to where they were 3 years ago when the line started. I was looking for Super Powers Deathstroke but found Eradicator on the shelf. Cross that off of my list, found Deathstroke at another Walmart on my way to work.

The DC Studios slate announcement is tomorrow.

Hopefully it focuses on a new Trinity. Personally I'd want an established Batman well into his 40s, whos the 'RDJ' of this franchise, and a striking difference to Pattinson's 'Young Batman.' A Batman that's old enough to be a father figure to Robins.

Inside word is that Levi as Shazam is now dead. He won't be continued after Shazam 2. Perhaps Gunn will cast him in a new role. It may not be worth getting his action figures.

Personally, I'm hoping they skip the trinity for now and build up the pillars of the DCU.

Justice Society of America movie to setup the universe from one direction. The Jay Garrick can pass the torch to Barry in a sequel. Maybe establish our Wonder Woman here.

Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes movie to set things up from another. The Superboy actor can age into playing Superman. No present-day trinity until that 18 year-old turns 25.

Lobo movie based on the LEGION 'XX books. Vril Dox, Lady Quark, and so on. Setup the Green Lantern Corps.

Try to build up from the lower tier, lower recognition characters instead of racing into Superman or Batman. Also gives The Batman and Joker franchises time to wind down before casting the main universe's Batman.

JSA could be a problem, because they just introduced the JSA in the failed Black Adam movie... that they are not continuing with.

Booster Gold may be coming as a DCU TV series.

Most reviewers thought the JSA was the best thing in Black Adam.

And the great thing about nobody watching a movie is that it probably doesn't have any impact on whether the stuff in it gets reused.

JSA was pretty well received in Stargirl too.

Funny thing: when Johns was in charge of DC, he advocated for everyone getting to use different versions of characters. He fought to get Superman on Supergirl.

After he was gone and running Stargirl on the CW, the Black Adam people wanted to use Stargirl and were told they couldn't because there was a TV show, so they swapped in Cyclone.

If you look at the JSA between Black Adam and Stargirl, it's like each side got partial custody. Stargirl got Hourman, Sandman, Dr. Mid-Nite, Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, Ted Grant, Johnny Thunder and Thunderbolt, Sylvester Pemberton, Spectre, and a fleeting reference to Dr. Fate, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl. Along with Jade, Obsidian, Beth Chapel, Yolanda Montez, Rick Tyler, Stargirl, and a reference to Damage.

And then Black Adam got Dr. Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher with the Fonz as Al Pratt.

As much as I’d like to see JSA on screen, it’s gotta be done right. Let Geoff Johns do it. Write, produce, direct. Period.

4chan has some overnight rumors I won’t repeat. We’ll hear soon enough. If true, it could be interesting or a disaster. Or an interesting disaster.

Place your bets on what percent of those announced DC projects of Gunn will actually make it into production.

I'd say 50%.

This is WB/DC. They're great at announcing projects... and then scrapping them.

Honestly, I’m far more interested in the wailing, moaning, gnashing of teeth, and rending of garments that is sure to follow. I can’t wait for all of the armchair experts and all the second guessing. And especially the bile. Can’t ever get enough bile.
