What’s with the jingle bells for Krampas? Seems too cheery an accessory for him.

Thwipp!
Krampus has ALWAYS been depicted with multiple bells...more than most Christmas characters, actually. In some areas, they even have giant cowbells attached to their belts. The bells, traditionally, are said to serve as notice of the approach of St. Nicholas and his entourage. This was important in the smaller villages and homes in the alps where it was unusual for people to receive visitors. On December 5th (Krampusnact), St Nicholas would travel to all the homes where children were present, and he would bring along at least one Krampus. The bells could be heard from quite a ways off, to let the people in these far flung homes know they were about to be visited by St. Nicholas and Krampus. This way, the group was greeted with hospitality, instead of having dogs unleased upon them.

Four Horsemen - Figura Obscura

The Gill-Man wrote:I personally am thrilled with this release. I LOVE that they did a traditional St Nicholas/Father Christmas, instead of some monster take on the character. I'm also really glad they didn't go with a modern "fat" Santa...we're getting that from Fresh Monkey Fiction as it is. I've long wanted the trim, wizened old man who is featured in so many different cultures. All this is missing for my ideal Nicholas is a Mitre (any of you customizers out there gonna do a Mitre for ol' Nick?), and maybe his crosier (though the staff here is pretty close to the traditional crosier from folklore).

I'm really impressed that they managed to make this take versatile enough that he could fit into many different culture's versions of "Santa". He is instantly recognizable to almost anyone who comes from any country with a St Nicholas/Father Christmas/Father Frost/Santa tradition. I'm excited to have him on my shelf, keeping his Krampus entourage in check as they head out to separate out the naughty from the nice.
This.

I’m hoping for a green variant for retailers.

I'd love a green variant Ghost of Christmas Present, with a big torch and lots of food!

A proper Christmas Carol line would be awesome! I’d imagine him more on the ogre sized body though.

Here's a question - what would a Figura Obscura Scrooge be? An orc?

Looks like sales have come to a near standstill. I would think they’d want these gone before Xmas is over, since I’m not sure there’s much of a market for a Santa action figure post December 25th.

My Father Christmas has shipped, too. Should be here today or tomorrow. It's funny, the Krampus at BBTS was the first one I ordered but, I 'll have received the two from the line before having him in my hands.

Just received my shipping notice as well. VERY excited to receive St Nick!

Sad to see he hasn't sold as well as his other Figura Obscura counterparts, but I guess it's not that surprising. He's a much more niche character, and I know many are satisfied with the offerings from Fresh Monkey Fiction (I'm getting both, but my various Holiday displays call for different renditions of Santa). This probably means there won't be any variants of him offered down the road, but I can live with that. This one is going to be in my display for years to come!

Hopefully BBTS Krampus makes his way soon. I was really hoping to have him by Christmas.

Yeah, what's up with BBTS on this damn Krampus? The Horsemen said they were moving c the Krampus so the retailers would have him in stock to ship on the 5th, and it seems like every other retailers selling him at least has him listed as in risk, if they have any stock left... and BBTS, who seem like they've had some issues getting items in the last couple years, so have him in pre-order status. Are they just behind in filing him in their database, or was there an issue getting their toys... again? I'm using flashbacks to Action Forcec wave one, where done folks got second shipments in and out to us before BBTS got their first wave. This does not build confidence with their FMF collabs.

This isn't quite visually interesting enough for me to buy it. If I'm going to have one Santa in my display, it's going to be a Coca-Cola-style Saint Nick. Thankfully, the Fresh Monkey figure scratches that itch. I imagine this figure would've done really well if it came out before the Fresh Monkey figures were revealed.

A cult. That’s freaking hilarious! We call ourselves dedicated enthusiasts.

To be fair, that's exactly what a cult member would say.

Personally, I didn't actually like the Fresh Monkey Santa. It's a bit too generic, too soft-sculpted for me. Even the Coca Cola Santa usually has more detail and jollyness. It's not bad by any means, but I want 'more' in a Santa figure. So the 4H version really speaks to me, as those head sculpts have a lot of detail and personality, the robes have those nice "embroideries", and there're so many cool accessories that it really makes the figure for me. 16+ accessories, all well sculpted AND painted? Plus those nice robes, PLUS the awesome packaging (which I always keep!) it's just a great deal. Sure, $60 is more than I would like to pay, definitely, but I can see the value and besides, it's a figure that represents Papa Noel, the Santa I grew up believing in.

Actually, that's a cool question. Did anyone here believed that he was real when they were kids? I did xdxd, the St. Nick/Papa Noel version. I found out he wasn't real through a friend at age 9, kinda late for most kids I think. But I remember loving the feeling of it, the warmth I got in my heart when we celebrated Xmas at my grandma's. I'm very lucky and thankful to have those memories.

Definitely. I very distinctly remember someone telling me he wasn't real in grade school. I was probably in 3rd grade, maybe 4th. I decided that they were wrong because if Santa wasn't real, then neither was the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. What was more likely, that one of them was fake and the rest of them were real or that they were all real? A misapplication of Occam's Razor.
