Re: Gundam Universe (Gundam Model kits and action figures)
I sitting at my desk and while glancing at my Detolf where these are displayed, I noticed something slightly annoying: some V's are painted yellow and some are painted gold. Especially silly here is that the Wing Gundam (and Zero) are gold whereas Sandrock, Deathsyscythe, and Heavyarms are yellow. I know that would be an easy fix to paint myself but dang!

Got Sazabi! I was shocked by how big the box was for this mobile suit. It comes packed with a lot of stuff—for example, all the funnels are removable. Definitely a fun, chunky figure!

How big are 30Minute Sisters when they are fully assembled? Do they stand in decent scale next to a Master Grade? I'm looking for a female figure to stand alongside the Baywatch-custom Guncannon I'm working on and 30Minute Sisters, if large enough, could be the perfect companion.

Been watching Iron Blooded Orphans for the first time which got me back in a Gundam mood. Now I need a Barbatos kit. My GU Shenlong came and my HG Shenlong is on the way. So here's some Death Scythe in the mean time

The HG Shenlong is a blast to build, like Heavyarms and Sandrock before him. But I'm pretty excited to build some Witch From Mercury with their new "hologram" pieces, especially after the absolute carnival of a time I had building the Battlogue models. It seems like Bandai is just getting better and better at their model kits, and I'm loving it.
Funny enough, I've been building Gundam models and collecting Gundam toys since the 90s, and I've never seen one minute of the anime or read one page of the manga. It's pretty out of character for me, but I just still haven't got around to it. Haven't been a big fan of military-based anime since the later seasons of RahXephon when they turned it from a surreal head-trip of a giant mecha show into a boring military slog.
Also, I have a random Xabungle model kit in my BBTS pile of loot, based purely on aesthetics. I have no idea who or what a Xabungle is. Maybe one day I'll actually check out the source material of these things, but for now I'm just loving building little plastic robots, regardless of context.

Great pic! I wish their energy effects looked more like that and not so much like bubble gum.ShootingtheGalaxy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 3:04 amBeen watching Iron Blooded Orphans for the first time which got me back in a Gundam mood. The anime is VERY melodramatic. And Wing is especially terrible. It has amazing individual components that just come together as a mess lol. They're really all different levels of over dramatic. But the music is almost always fire. If you ever check any out though, I'd recommend the Gundam Thunderbolt movie. 08th MS Team is also REALLY REALLY good. And I'm really enjoying Iron Blooded Orphans right now.
I've never even heard of Xabungle lol.
Re: Gundam Universe (Gundam Model kits and action figures)
Thank you! Do you mean the GU effects? Because the clear HG effects look awesome IMO. But yeah those GU accessories aren't so great looking. This one is the HG kit.Nik wrote: ↑Tue Nov 29, 2022 9:12 amGreat pic! Re: Gundam Universe (Gundam Model kits and action figures)
Seconding Gundam Thunderbolt; it's not the without flaws, but it was pretty solid action fun. I haven't seen 08th MS Team in a couple of decades (ugh, feels weird to say that) when it was first released, but I remember it being really good. I'm especially fond of War in the Pocket and Stardust Memories, though (0080 and 0083). Iron Blooded Orphans was surprisingly good, I thought. I wasn't initially in love with the mecha designs, but they really grew on me.
