I finally caught Squid Game and very much enjoyed it; but I dunno that there's a whole lot of 'meat' left for another season.

Two episodes left to watch today, but my daughter and I have been binging Wednesday and it's EXCELLENT. I watched the original Addams Family TV show some, saw both of the movies when they came out but then I don't think I ever really watched them again after that (or at least, not within the last 15-20 years, easy). So I wouldn't call myself a big fan of the franchise overall. Still, I know enough to get all/most of the references and such, and the show is just sooooo good.

Tried to watch The Santa Clauses with my wife. Should have known by the presence of modern-day Tim Allen that it was not something I wanted on my screen. But less than one entire episode through it and the right-wing dog whistles had turned both of us off to continuing. Huge shame, that, because my wife and I are really big fans of the original films.

Watched the first episode of Willow as well. Yeah, it's not binging, but you can't binge a show on Disney unless you wait until it's over. Either way, despite some really way-too-modern sounding dialogue, I really LOVED the first episode. As did my son, who is a big fan of the movie. Really looking forward to more and definitely wishing Disney dropped more episodes at a time.

I've also been enjoying Wednesday, and pacing myself to one episode a day as I've come to dislike binging stuff I've not watched before. I agree with everything you've said above, KD. It hits all the right notes at the right time in the right way, imho. It's got something for everyone in the family, just about. I'm diggin' the seams on Thing, explaining him as a part of a failed Frankenstein's Monster, too. I never caught that from the previous stuff.

I also started Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities as well, one ep in. I had thought it was a 'documentary' series about old Carnival freakshows but it's really a Twilight Zone-horror anthology series, with GdT hosting the series and no doubt execproducing it all. I noticed Panos Cosmatos directs ep 8, which I'm really looking forward to. Anything more the director of Beyond the Black Rainbow and Mandy wants to give me I'll watch.

Does Wednesday deserve her own thread? I quite enjoyed it. I've never really warmed up to the guy that played Fester (nameless to avoid spoilers, I guess), but he did well. I have to assume season 2 got greenlit.

I'm genuinely confused why the name of the guy that played Fester is a spoiler. I feel like I missed something. There must be a season 2 coming -- Wednesday is still in the top five shows on Netflix today. That's a really long run at the top -- especially for a show that I actually expected not to do very well.

As always, I don't know that I'd call most of my viewing to be 'binging' because I really don't have time for that. But I'm currently watching 1883 and Warrior Nun when I have time. In standard Netflix fashion, they killed any interest most people would have had in Warrior Nun by announcing it's cancellation at the same time as Season 2 came out. Because Netflix is run by some of the most incompetent buffoons in the entire industry. Even so, I'd already watched all of Season 1 and I wanted to know how much we'd find out in Season 2, so I'm going to watch it all the way through. Still a huge bummer to know that whatever isn't tied up this season never will be. And it's a really fun show, really. Didn't get the audience it deserved.

1883 is a show I started months ago. Only watched like two episodes and then just didn't keep up with it because of all the other stuff we watch and not having time for everything - especially being that it's definitely harder to find time to watch things that aren't particularly kid-appropriate. But I'm about half-way through the show now and really enjoying it. I have no knowledge of the show this is supposed to be a prequel to, nor do I actually give even the smallest shit. But I'm lovin' me some cowboy TV. Always a sucker for that. And I'd say this show is actually better than average. I didn't expect much from something that's proudly an MTV Production. Honestly, whoever is doing the lighting for this show needs to go teach basically everyone else how to light a [email protected]#$ night-time scene. You can actually see what's happening. It's amazing.
Pretty good acting, though. The country singer leads are probably the worst part of the show. They're not necessarily -bad-, just less polished than many of the other actors. In any case, really enjoying it. I don't know anything about this show beyond what I've seen and that it's apparently a prequel, but I'm hoping the prequel nature of it means there's already a set ending they're working toward and that we'll actually get there. Tired of shows being cancelled without a proper ending.

Last Series You Binged

Watched Wednesday. That’s quite good. Wednesday is a terrible detective though. Interesting show. I didn’t really watch the Addams Family as the Munsters had that cool hot Rod. But these characters are interesting. I would have thought Gomez would have been a bit more than the love interest of Morticia. He’s alright as a dad. Thing is great. The kids were interesting. The boarding school is okay I guess. I mean carnivorous plants are interesting but a whole class on it not much there to prepare these students. It was a good show. Opens up some fun possibilities for future stories.

Watched Terminal List. That one was just as interesting as it takes you throw the melancholic life of a human weapon. It has some logic jumps. I still do not know how those involved and end up on the list Reece hunts down with little prejudice. Pratt has a sadness that hangs on him like an albatross. He is a man made to be a weapon who is pointed at targets. Once he is pointed at the target he shoots. The show brings up the tragic life people who serve may have after serving. Yes there are conspiracies and conspirators aplenty. I know the premise of this show does take some liberties of showing the results of using people. Overall it’s sad. There is so much to unpack as the story unfolds. It ultimately leads to very sad ending which does try to show the life of a disenfranchised soldier.

Both shows are worth the watch.

Thwipp!

I finished Warrior Nun a few days back. I'm pretty bummed it didn't get more seasons. It's actually a really enjoyable show. And with today's world, you'd think it would get more hype since it's based on a comic book and that's like.. the thing.. right now. Really fun. Pretty solid acting all around. The good thing is that Season 2 doesn't -really- end with loose ends. You can largely consider this the end of this particular story, so it doesn't feel incomplete not getting more. But I still would definitely have watched more.

Not 'binging' (maybe I can stop saying that, since it's how I caveat every entry) but Vinland Saga dropped Ep 1 of Season 2 and it was fantastic. I'm so excited to watch this show and WOULD be binging it, but for some reason of all the Netflix shows this one isn't getting dropped all at once but one episode at a time. I know that's a contentious thing to complain about but I hate it. No need for it. Especially something like this that DOESN'T have tons of pop culture buzz around it that people are going to be talking about and all that. It's very niche. Just [email protected]#$ release the episodes and let me decide how long it'll take to watch it.

Anyway.. it's awesome and I'm already excited for more.

Oh! The wife and I also started watching Stargate Origins. I think it was originally on YouTube or something? They're like 10 minute episodes. We've only watched the first two, but I kind of like it.

Sucession season 1, absolutely loving its machiavellian satire of Trump/Murdoch dynasties.

I've got one more episode of Prime's Hunters to go and I'm assuming it's the series finale based on how this plotline is resolving. It's a fun show if one enjoys watching Nazis getting ganked.

Yeah, that finale was some crazy shit; y'all. Up to the last episode Hunters had been weaving itself within real history but that all went waaaaaaaaay the far out the window for the finale. There was an absolutely *awesome* speech in there, tho.

If y'all ain't watching Netflix' Cunk on Earth, you're missing out. It's got the hilarity History of the World part 2 dreams of having. I haven't laughed this hard since Ash vs Evil Dead's morgue scene.
