I suspect fewer people are buying deep cuts, so let those be low production run HasLabs. Not necessarily $350 each figure.
I just need a few more key characters in certain costumes, then I'm probably done. Let Hasbro pitch to youngsters. Haven't read much of the newer X-Men, so much of the Ch'od BAF wave doesn't interest me.

Re: Marvel legends Prices & Future
I feel like the problems started when Hasbro got away from the “something for everyone” approach to putting retail waves together with a blend of MCU/Comic and Classic/Contemporary. Then they got into all of these different releases through different avenues at different prices that just confuse the consumer and flood the market.
Just go back to what worked in the first place.

I try to watch every livestream since at least a few years ago. The only confusion for me is where to pre-order what from. I noticed recent livestreams, they put up the Hasbropulse logo, but don't necessarily clarify "and other retailers". I suppose if the plan is to boost more direct to consumer sales, confusion is the gameplan.

But one out of the 8 figures in the wave have a look that's less than 20 years old. 5 out of 8 are 30 years old... if that's "newer X-Men" there's more "newer X-Men" than there is "Old" X-Men
Re: Marvel legends Prices & Future
I'm honestly confused at what you are saying here. Corsair, Fang and Ch'od have been in the X-books since the 1970's so you can't be referring to them. Chamber and M debuted in those looks 29 years ago - like really almost 3 full decades ago - so you can't be referring to them, right? Astonishing X-Men debuted in 2004 - so that's 19 years ago for Cyclops and Emma. The only figure that is even remotely recent from this wave is Quentin "Kid Omega" Quire. And even then his first appearance was 20 years ago. Admittedly this particular look for Quentin is more recent.PurpleLantern wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 12:06 amI just need a few more key characters in certain costumes, then I'm probably done. I think we can all agree though. Hasbro needs to take the molds with the weird bow legs and pigeon toes and dump them in the ocean. This is Marvel not Monster High.

I know that is dangerously close to a "why make X and not Y" personal preference thing, but if you are in a situation where folks are questioning if they want to spend money on your product, why not go for the lower hanging fruit that you know from past top-10's and these boards that there is substantial fan interest.
Re: Marvel legends Prices & Future
Putting aside new vs old, are any of those characters (besides Cyclops) more iconic than classic Angel or Rachel Summers in her hound attire? Or say Cannonball and Roberto in their New Mutants looks? Which is more likely to sell better and get a positive fan reaction from those collecting for years?PantherCult wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 12:20 amCorsair, Fang and Ch'od have been in the X-books since the 1970's so you can't be referring to them. Re: Marvel legends Prices & Future
I have to admit, I stopped reading the comics probably right before Chamber debuted (I didn't last long after Claremont left), and came back here and there when the movies started and again in 2008 or so. But I'm another who sees those characters as "new", heh.PantherCult wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 12:20 amI'm honestly confused at what you are saying here. Re: Marvel legends Prices & Future
I'm familiar with Starjammers and Imperial Guard. Generation Next existed when I was buying comics, but didn't really read much of that. There's a ton of relatively new X comics I haven't read.
When I had Marvel Unlimited for several months, I read Daredevil, Punisher because of Netflix, and read bits and pieces here and there about certain unfamiliar characters while there were current Marvel Legends figures of available at normal retail price.
Seems like there's ample low hanging fruit Hasbro ignores in favor of unusual characters.
Also, when they came out with the Retro cards of their major characters like Wolverine, Capt Am, Vision, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Pizza Spidey, Punisher, I wasn't paying attention to Marvel Legends. I would have bought those at regular price, but instead Ross gets them briefly and I still never had a chance to buy even at low prices.

Hasbro could easily use the fan poll method with all their collector lines. Say starting in January they run a poll consisting of say 100 characters(just throwing a number out there) and the voters get to pick 80 of those that will get made for the following yr.
I fully admit I know nothing of the business side of this hobby and I'm sure this will be perceived as stupid. But it also seems a lot of the issues can be addressed with some new ways of thinking. Instead of thinking this is still the 80's.

Well this isn't the same world that Star Wars and G.I. Joe had to deal with.RoboKillah wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 10:42 pmSo, get fans to agree on what they want, and then make them want what they don't. Sounds simple.

I'll offer up the wild theory that Hasbro continue doing exactly what it is doing right now, because the last thing I want is for "fans" to dictate my options. There is no way I'd get Rock Python that way, and as easy a punching bag as he is, I love that I have Rock Python.

Re: Marvel legends Prices & Future
That's right. No interwebz in the '80's for the general public. It would probably be easy to do online polls and specify which artist or costume.
Sometimes I wish I could volunteer to give feedback before a figure goes into production, and of course recuse when it's a character I'm not familiar with.
What if Hasbro made some ala carte parts in various colors for people to make their own custom Rock Python like Lego minifigures or Marauder Task Force?

Yeah, this will likely be what happens. I don't see a complete dramatic upheaval of the way they roll things out. I think they keep roughly this format until the end.Ibentmyman-thing wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 2:04 amI'll offer up the wild theory that Hasbro continue doing exactly what it is doing right now, because the last thing I want is for "fans" to dictate my options.

Don't forget Marvel has a say in what figures get made (and what doesn't!); we've seen them do this to prime the pump when a character is about to appear in the MCU, for instance.

Agreed! I have some where the elbow or knee piece isn't a more solid plastic like POM and those have floppy knees. They should quit doing those.Shoretrooper69 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 12:37 amI think we can all agree though.
