I’d absolutely hate that. One of my main interests in the line is the deep character selection.

We're still not getting MCU Janet Van Dyne & Hank Pym?
Unstoppable Wasp would've been a much cooler comic figure to get.

And one that would require a bunch of new tooling. It’s pretty clear where the budget went in this wave.

This. If this line turned into MCU figures with some comic-style A listers and no deep cuts or oddballs from the books, I’m out. The MCU figures only enter my collection in the volume they do because I love the line as a whole. For this wave, the comic villains are the biggest draw BY FAR.

I think the draw is that the line offers everything. I collect MCU and comic figures both so I don't want to see either go away.

But if there isn't a market for those items, if the way to get people to buy them is to trojan horse it with baf parts... Why not just offer the stuff that sells well? I'm not saying comic figures sell poorly, I have no sales figures and no clue as to ratios of what big stores stock in comic versus MCU etc etc. But if the comic line can't stand on its own, as I'm taking your speculation to mean, why not just do the seemingly more popular stuff?CTVampSlayer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 1:29 amI'm assuming it's because if they separated the lines it'd make it a lot harder to get comic book figures out at retail.
It's been a long day at work so maybe my logic argument isn't up to snuff heh.

Re: Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania wave (2023)
I don't want MCU to dominate, nor the comic stuff to go away. I've said before but to me the comic stuff is like the Joe Classified line. For me, it's just a separate line. So it's like buying a Gung Ho figure for an arm. I don't begrudge joe collectors and don't wish ill for the line, I even have a couple but that's all I want.
So I would love an MCU only line, focused on the current/next release with makeup characters and repaints filling out the waves.
Comic figures can go on like they did before Iron Man 3 came along. Focused waves with comic bafs. Don't even call the MCU line Legends anymore, but those who collect both are still free to do so.

Re: Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania wave (2023)
I dont see much logic for MCU only collectors having to buy 4 figures they don't want or need to finish a movie based BAF, and vice verse cause I know it's happened to yall comic only collectors with Mr Hyde and such. It's BS to force collectors to buy so many figures they don't want. At least Todd McFarlene keeps his BAFs confined to same story, same movie, etc.
I dont want MCU to way dominate comic offerings. But I don't want to be expected to shell out 100 bucks by Hasbro's greed either. So I think changes are needed

Same here. The primary reason I'm not building this BAF.

Completely agree with both of you! ML has a great balance right now.aceofknaves wrote:This. But this wave is very focused thematically, probably more than most waves. The entire lineup is very focused on Ant-Man characters, just including both comic and MCU. If you are a fan of Hank Pym and Scott Lang as characters overall, this wave is gold.e-rock wrote:I dont see much logic for MCU only collectors having to buy 4 figures they don't want or need to finish a movie based BAF, and vice verse cause I know it's happened to yall comic only collectors with Mr Hyde and such. Re: Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania wave (2023)
I think the only issue really is when we get a mixed media wave with a BaF that swings one way or the other. Cause then if it's a desired BaF for one side they have to shell out for extra stuff they wouldn't want. In a case like this it'd be worse for MCU collectors because they gotta buy 4 comic figures that they'll most likely have to unload at a loss just to get Cassie, for example. Sure, it's thematic, but that doesn't mean much when the divide is so aesthetically different that not many people are gonna cross-display unless they're into ML as a whole like some people here have mentioned.
If the BaF is MCU-related, make the wave solely MCU. If the BaF is comic-related, make the wave solely comic figures. The former happens less than the latter, so it gives comic collectors a wallet break. That on-top of keeping things evenly mixed or putting out some dedicated mini-lines for MCU redos or requested characters would keep things balanced and avoid the groans and eye-rolls. At least imo.
