I'm confused. A lot of you are talking about in store purchases like it's the alternative to pre-orders. But even if pre-orders go away surely buying them online is still an option, right? I guess I'm not understanding why in store purchases are being brought up if we lose pre-orders.

While I enjoy knowing what's coming I'm actually not mad at this. I can't really say that pre-orders give me time to get my finances in order because Amazon may list an item as being relased in August but randomly I'm charged in June and here they come early. Happens all the time with Legends. So it's really no different then having the wave drop randomly and ready to ship. Plus, I think it'd be pretty cool not seeing the figures until just days before they end up on my doorstep. It'll really keep it fresh and new.

BUT I am certainly open to hearing the opposite opinion tho. Why do yall prefer pre-orders?

Pre-orders ensure you're guaranteed to get you wanna buy as opposed to them suddenly dropping and having to either go out and hunt or try and order stuff that may sell out very quickly after suddenly releasing. That's the basis of it.

Truth be told, the non-excluisves usually end up being easy to get eventually for most figures. I could prob survive if pre-orders go away. I already have to likely piece meal the MCU waves July anyway this year, and I think I will be trying to get MCU BAF pieces from other people as opposed to buy the comic figures this go just for money reasons.

Ah, that makes sense. That would be a crappy situation to be in. I can't imagine a scenario where an MCU figure sells out on all websites and doesn't come back in stock but what do I know.

I used to collect the mystery minis Walking Dead figures and I couldn't get my hands on one rare figure in particular. After missing her on the initial release she could only be found online for around 300 bucks. She will forever remain a hole in that collection for that reason. I'm such a completionist for MCU Legends that missing out on one because of this would urk my entire soul to no end lol.

Hopefully Hasbro would atleast let us know a day in advance when the figures will go up so I can try to be ready for such a scenario but I can just feel the anxiety already.

Me too. Seeing the movie is only gonna make it harder haha. It's funny because excluding the rumored Modok BAF and the assumed Cassie. All 3 MCU figures we "sorta" already have. But getting the Saga's big bad instead of his variant is super exciting, especially someone as iconic as Kang. And Wasp having the more comic accurate yellow and hair is also super exciting. I think both of them are really gonna pop on the shelf!

Right, as Marvel Knight 2099 said, it's really great when they show the figures and announce "These are going up for preorder tomorrow at 1pm." Then I can be sure to be available at that time, and it's pretty stressless. If they change the model now to "And these are going up for immediate order tomorrow at 1pm", I'd be perfectly fine with that. I just appreciate a head's up and a shot at actually securing them.

I finally watched Wakanda Forever the other night and several times thought about how I could easily have some of those characters on the shelf. Over the last few months, I had a MASSIVE purge of my collection and rethought how I collect, so I no longer have anyone from the BP movies aside from the charged up T'Challa. So rebuying the new BP, Ironheart, and Namor, along with the new versions of returning characters, was constantly on my mind. But I'm really trying to appreciate these movies just on their own merit, as movies, rather than toy commercials. Something I've been battling for forty years, heh. I still love the characters, but I've done a rigid wishlist of who I want on the shelf based entirely on who I connected with from the comics. Title characters, like Ms Marvel, that I connect with on screen are wildcards though.

But having the next movie, which I'll likely see in the theater, be followed by such a gap before the toys are available is seriously helpful for me, heh. And if they eliminate preordering, and collecting does become too much of a hassle, I'm not really going to complain. I'll just cut down even further.

So thanks to EE, we're hoping there might be a reveal on Wednesday Feb 8?

Okay, I'll actually agree with the people that say "the fewer spoilers the better". I'd be happy to watch Ant-Man on a Friday and then go to the store and see all the toys for the first time on a Saturday, but that's not really possible due to all the distribution/logistics/localized stocking issues and so on.

I’d rather get the figures in advance of the movie during the hype. Helps increase excitement for the movie. But the right timing is important, because you don’t want the figures to come out too soon either.

I definitely admire your self control with collecting. I'm sure collecting and wanting certain characters has become a lot less stressful for you that way. Price changes and a rapidly growing MCU character roster has probably helped you come to this approach as well.

I've been doing this for so long now I've always wondered how my collector brain will age. Honestly, sometimes I get scared that as I get older I'll lose my passion for this. But I've collected some sort of toy line since I was in diapers collecting Happy Meal toys haha. So it's nice to see that if my approach ever does change I'd hopefully be at peace with it like you. For now tho, it's every MCU character they can make I'll take it haha.

In other news, Hottoys revealed their Scott, Hope, and Cassie figures. Cassie seems to be the only one without an unmasked head. But this (to my knowledge) is officially the first A&W:Q merch I've seen yet.

Thank you. It's genuinely a struggle, but also... first world problems, right? Heh. But yeah, in a way it definitely has become less stressful. I also kinda reached a peak of 'collect em all' somewhere in Phase 4, and I wonder how much that affected my enjoyment of the movies and shows. Some of them I definitely enjoyed more than others, but there were some I enjoyed almost only because of the figures they led to. Turning off the collector brain may help me get back to being a better movie watcher. And really, my collecting has been entirely based on "I want that thing from the movie I enjoy on the shelf" for maybe thirty years now? And the MCU kinda put the horse before the cart for me.

Definitely. It really was the perfect time for me.

That's funny. I probably have the same story, but Star Wars was always my big thing, along with several Mattel, Hasbro, and other Kenner lines along the way. GI Joes were the last toys I was buying before I stopped playing with toys, but I kept buying toys anyway. At the time it was the Kenner Batman toys, based on Batman Returns etc, along with the early Toy Biz X-Men figures. I'd ALWAYS wanted X-Men figures beyond the Secret Wars Wolverine so I had to get them, even though I felt weird just posing them on the shelf and leaving it at that. Kenner's Alien and Predator toys carried me a while, then POTF2 started up and I was all in until I had kids of my own, and all that star wars went to them.

Now I'm all about Legends, Black Series, and have a good amount of Neca Aliens, Predators, and other movie monsters on the shelf. And two Classified Joes, heh. But I'm constantly rethinking the focus, what goes together on the shelves, and how light or hard I want to collect a line. I'm too rigid to go into something without a plan. Every Star Wars line I've collecting since I was 18 started with "I'll just get Boba Fett. And Vader. And a Stormtrooper. Two Stormtroopers. That Luke looks great."

And I sincerely admire that. I'm sure that's awesome, and probably less stressful in the opposite way from my approach. Just getting every character is so simple because a wave comes out, you know what you're getting. Waiting to see a movie, consider who you connect with, then hoping to find those figures for not too much, to me, is riddled with anxiety, heh. For me, your way or my way are the only ways that would work.

Yeah I think that's accurate, and kinda funny since I don't think Hot Toys is anywhere near the first usually. Probably Funko, then Hasbro.

Wasp looks amazing and I considered selling my A&W figure to get this new one, but ultimately I decided the original design is still cool enough so why sell it for, what, $12? Then spend $25 to get something that will serve the exact same purpose and probably not give me much more, if any, satisfaction?
