Is the 5-pack fan channel exclusive? That one seems destined for sale pricing just as the Spidey villains 5-pack did, but not if retailers who never run sales are the only ones who carry it.

Best Buy and Gamestop would eventually discount it, but I can't find the set on either site despite the fact that they usually carry fan channel exclusives. Maybe the price point is too high for them?
https://www.gamestop.com/collectibles/f ... 57098.html Gamestop link. Don't think I've seen it at Best Buy.

Awesome, thanks! Yep, Gamestop will eventually discount it, and Amazon will follow suit as they always do. So I'm waiting on that set.

I'm excited for Random or would probably wait also. That set is going to be a bargain at some point for sure.

It's a simple strat--if it's a figure or set of figures in the top half of popularity that isn't a re-release it probably will sell out before it gets discounted. If it's in the lower half of popularity it won't. The only figure from the 5-pack that's a top-half Marvel character is Stryfe, so the price of buying the four peg-warmers will doom it to sale and clearance pricing.

Never missed a figure following this strat with one notable exception--the Children of Thanos set, all of which were re-releases. But that one happened during Covid and had a very limited supply for some reason. It's like half of the stock got lost in China or something back when everything was chaotic with worldwide shipping. I actually did snag it at retail just by refreshing the page a lot a few months after release, but it was really hard to get for a set that should have been destined for sale pricing.

Children of Thanos was also an Amazon exclusive right? X-Men Villains is in a lot of online retailers.

Could the hair on Viper and Vertigo be swapped as well? I like the sculpt of Vertigo's hair, but it doesn't look right on Viper's body to me, mostly because of the color.

Yes it was an Amazon exclusive. And EVERY Amazon exclusive has gone to sale pricing over the past 4+ years aside from two I'm aware of--Children of Thanos and Fox Wolverine in the white tank top. Fox Wolverine is understandable since it's Wolverine and that figure was exceptional.

Did Fox dusty Deadpool get a sale? That one wouldn't have been as popular as the white tank top Wolverine probably but.

Good question--forgot about that one and I have no idea. I completely ignored that release since I already had the 2-pack with Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

I bet it didn't. A lot of people skipped the 2-pack who didn't want both figures, and those who just wanted Deadpool jumped on that single release. I know if I didn't have the 2-pack I wouldn't have assumed that one would go to sale pricing since Deadpool isn't just a top-halfer, he's a first or second tier character in terms of popularity.

Woke up to a notification that this set has both shipped and is arriving today. I had honestly been meaning to cancel my pre-order but I forgot. Oh well! I think it will be living in the box for a while because I'm out of space for anything new, really.

I also got a notification the X-villains pack would arrive Monday. That usually doesn’t mean shipping until the day before for me.

Got the notification that the 5-pack has shipped and should be here Monday.

Not too shabby, lots of new characters to add to the shelf and maybe I can pilfer an extra Cable head to pop onto my old Stryfe figure for an 'unmasked' version and display both.

Ah, my set is here! I think it's a really solid offering. I don't know much about these characters but I like the designs well enough.

Stryfe is an improvement over the last one, which I had sold a while back anyway. Love the new head, the face printing looks great on the stubble. I forgot they made him pinless this time around. That's honestly a surprising update, given how hasbro has been content to release plenty of other sculpts with the pins.

Pretty Boy is a great new sculpt. Wish the diaphragm had a better range of movement, though.

Random is one from the trading cards that my older brother had growing up, which he eventually gave to me, so I have a certain nostalgia for the character although I don't know too much about him. Always enjoyed the design, and the figure is done well. Would have liked some accessories for him, though.

Vertigo has good paint and a nice headsculpt. Wish it was one of the newer bodies but it's serviceable.

I know nothing about Zero and I wish he was on the Vulcan buck instead. I like the Dr. Strange portal, I didn't own it before.

Overall, a good set. Would have been a better value if we got the updated base bodies for vertigo and zero, and if we had a couple extra heads in there.

Short summary on Zero:
“Created in the far future by the Askani as a peacekeeping weapon, the programmable android Ambient-Energy Dampening Actualization Module (ADAM Unit Zero), AKA Zero, becomes a servant to the mutant tyrant known as Stryfe. With his many energy manipulating abilities, he acts as Stryfe’s bodyguard and teleporter.”

My order was set to be here Monday and was preparing to ship. I cancelled. I'm rolling the discount dice.
