General deluxe release thread - Defender Strange, Ragnarok, Ulik and Rhino

They taped the side flap to the top and bottom of the box on mine, instead of the little ears on the sides like normal.

Decided to roll the dice on getting Ulik on discount later after seeing red/green Hulk hit clearance - canceled my preorder just in time. I figure a slight upgrade to a figure I already have is exactly the perfect thing to gamble on possibly missing out on.

I couldn't justify re-buying Ulik. I used to be a support the line guy, now I'm a support the line guy when I want to guy.

Sure the price is an issue, but it's not the money I'm spending that I have the problem with. These were overpriced when they were $7.00.

It's the state of things in the world and Hasbro asking us to buy something a 2nd time when it should've been done right the first time.

Got Ulik today as well. He’s an awesome upgrade to an already great figure. I was always a little paranoid about playing around too much with the original exclusive version. So now it is fun to have a much more accessible version with more accessories. The extra yelling head is dynamic and the new hands and mace are nice new options.

Yeah Ulik is a HUGE upgrade. Both head portraits are fantastic, and the new hands are specific to Ulik with hair on the wrist by the hinge and all that. Speaking of hinges: Ulik’s open right hand has an “up-down” hinge that makes posing him with his club very cool. Not often we get those weapon-wielding hinges done correctly.

I love the Ulik deluxe, but I've always found Ulik to be a really awesome looking character. He reminded me a lot of Kalibak, who I was fond of from my days playing with Super Powers figures, so he was an instant tough guy, in my book. That being said, there's only room for one Ulik in my collection, I fear, and I'll probably trade the SDCC one in to my comic store this week for some store cred since he doesn't have all of the cool extras. Still, I did like the calm headsculpt with the majestically combed and straightened hair. Hmmmm, maybe I'll keep that head and get rid of the grinning one....

So, I just could not live with those derpy eyes on Ulik. Did some quick research and noticed his eyes are frequently depicted as black in the ol' classic days so I hit them with a repaint of gloss black along with a quick dark detail & wash, and I love the results. He looks much more menacing now.
Some of y'all might want to do the same.

I was just thinking about this last night, and that looks pretty great so I might do the same thing. Thanks for sharing the pics! And yeah, why did they make the necklace a separate piece???
