Other uses for the Doc Ock/Frog-Man Body

Wed Dec 01, 2021 3:30 pm

I really like Frog-Man's mold but I was wondering if it's run out of uses. I can't think of too many other characters that have a chubby yet muscular build.

I think everyone is expecting Red Ghost and maybe Mad Thinker. But both should have a retooled upper torso to remove the tentacle ports.

Mad Thinker is sometimes drawn that way. He'd just need a new back with no holes

I'd like to see a version of this body in street clothes with the Hood angry, screaming head used to replace Hood on Ryan Ting's shelf representing the generic, overly-opinionated Internet-irate average Marvel Legends collector. The Ock body is likely to be a far closer representation than that body Hood uses. Image

Honestly, I think the new Red Skull body is a better fit for those two.

It only works for Hindsight’s early look. Later on, he slimed down an wire a red jumpsuit.

Other candidates that come to mind:

Gronk (a frequent minion for Maelstrom)

Dum Dum Dugan (his weight tends to fluctuate, but he has been drawn like that at times)

Peachy Keen (Marvel/Hostess character, kind of a Kingpin knock-off)

Dr Faustus (another character with a fluctuating waistline, that could be made with some overlays)

Microbe seems like he’d fit the bill too.

And of course… THE WALRUS!

or, more on point for a Marvel collection, his Imperial Guard equivalent, Hardball:

If the body could successfully be repurposed for Faustus, Harry Leland could work as well! I feel like Faustus is more stout and leaner than Leland in most depictions though so probably not a perfect fit.

I think I could be happy with Thinker and Red Ghost on this body or the Red Skull jumpsuit - both have been portrayed as portly or skinny. The real question for both is how we get their respective minions.

Ooh and add Egghead to the “chubby guy in a suit” club! He and Leland are closer to the same body type than Faustus.

Ohh yes! Leland would make another excellent candidate for this mold.

Behold the glory.

His later look was not only slimmed down, but somehow he missed the memo on 90's pouches and went with zippers.
