Are we SURE that's the direction Morph's head should be facing on the spine? ;)

Really hope he gets a Fan Channel figure at some point without the cel shading. I want him, but am not in for the animated line. Between the retro figures and the Love Triangle set, I have a spare set of the animated team already….

I've seen this comment a lot and don't really understand it. This version of Morph only appeared in X-Men: The Animated Series, right? Why would they do a standard ("comic") version of this character beyond the TAS specific line? Not being snarky, genuinely asking.

Maybe because it would be an update of the TB 5" figure which did not have cell-shading?

This is pretty much the big reason. The second is, Hasbro has made all of these figures with improvements at least twice. Morph is the only figure that might not be made in both formats, but hoping they throw collectors a bone; I’m not going in for a third figure that’s the same as the ones I already have. Jubilee’s yellow gloves are not enough. If they were dead on the style/character guides, I’d probably have gotten the core team. But I’m not getting animated decos on comic figures, even if the show was very accurate to the comic designs at the time.sepster wrote:Maybe because it would be an update of the TB 5" figure which did not have cell-shading?

It's an opinion thing. To some this is that update of that figure, to other it isn't because of the paint applications.
Will he see a general release outside of this VHS collection? Hard to say since he wasn't actually in the comics.

Hasbro loves easy repaints. He'll definitely get a re-release. Just a question of when.
Most of us already assembled our 'animated X-Men team' before this line got announced and a lot of us aren't going to replace them and/or outright prefer them NOT to have the cell-shading.CTVampSlayer wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 4:28 pmseptember_death wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 4:06 pmReally hope he gets a Fan Channel figure at some point without the cel shading. i get enjoying the closest you have available, but that's what makes this whole double-dipping shoddy repaint line the biggest head scratcher.
Re: What's next for ML in 2022-2023
i don't really understand why anyone is considering these figures or the comic jim lee ones "the animated team" when the figures really haven't been the character designs at all. just vague stand-ins.CTVampSlayer wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 4:28 pmseptember_death wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 4:06 pmReally hope he gets a Fan Channel figure at some point without the cel shading. Yup, I already have the Animated Series team, I'm not re-buying all of them. And I prefer them without cell-shading. Cartoons are cell shaded because they're 2D. These figures are 3D, they'll get real shadows from real light.
Comics have shading, too, we don't expect comic figures to be cell-shaded. But whatever, it is what it is. I just hope he doesn't stand out too much and blends in with the rest of the collection.
