Material costs, labor costs, shipping costs, license fees, publicly traded company profit margin expectations - all of these things have been increasing by double digits since the pandemic hit and the prices aren't coming back down with how much money we printed in 2020-2021. Nearly everything costs more. Get used to it.

No doubt, and that is out of our control. But wages for people are not increasing to balance rising costs. So saying that rising costs means I will have to buy less or be more selective/strategic with how I do purchase things isn't out of line or anything. It is the reality of the situation. That is how many of us will have to "get used to it"

Inflation is not something we can do anything about and I get it. But my paycheck ain't going up at the same rate Legends are. So cuts are gonna have to be made and buying habits are gonna have to change.

This is exactly it. The working class falls by the wayside again. Who could believe it?

Hasbro's not entirely to blame for the price increase. Inflation, shipping, and raw materials are partly responsible, but I do feel that the anniversary line and X-Men Animated Series line are blatant cash grabs, and I don't think Legends should be $25 MSRP. These corporations are beholden to shareholders at the cost of consumers and the planet.

Action figure prices are definitely going up across the board, but companies like Diamond Select are still offering unique sculpts for $29.99. I know Hasbro spreads the budget out across a wave, but you just can't tell me that the Marvel Select Titanium Man is only worth $5 more than the new Marvel Legends Sleepwalker. Sleepwalker is on a decade-old body. Seriously. Bucky Cap came out in February 2012. Titanium Man to Sleepwalker isn't exactly apples to apples, but for comic collectors, it often is.




They've got me by the balls for a few characters and teams. If the Astonishing X-Men are Super7 prices, I'll just have to pony up. But I'm at a point where I expect better quality than a lot of what we're getting for $25. If a figure doesn't have butterfly joints, good lateral hip motion, and calf swivel, I'm good. I know what other companies are doing for the same price. Hell, I know what Hasbro's own G.I. Joe team is doing for the same price.

I remember checking my local TRU for the Arnim Zola wave back in college. It feels like yesterday and also a lifetime ago. For what it's worth, I never found a single new Legends figure there.

The Titanium Man and Sleepwalker comparison is telling. I'd love to hear someone with some insider knowledge speak to the differences between the two companies/lines - presumably they both have similar costs to produce figures. Hasbro deluxe releases that cost the same as a MS figure still often reuse bucks, etc.

They own GI Joe and Power Rangers. I assume they pay royalties to Takara for Transformers but I've never been sure.
