Thank you. I painted them using Citadel paints. They were Kislev Flesh, white and a little bit of red.LipSmack wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 12:43 amHey, how did you do the bare forearms? Paint or modded? I’ve had the set of these for a while but only finally got around to giving them their own display space. I combined them with some recent retro-carded figures that I felt had an animated vibe.
Besides Magneto and Professor X (ideally in his flight suit from season two), this feels like a good representation of the core cast members.
…actually, wait, we need Bishop. And Cable. And Nightcrawler. Definitely Sabretooth.

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
Will the recent retro carded Rogue, Gambit, and Beast be the animated series version of these characters? Opinions seem to be split on whether or not the VHS line will continue after the break. Since it would only take a little repainting and potentially a new head sculpt for Beast from the retro carded figures, my guess is those three will get VHS versions. I'm not sure what will happen, but gpmartin414's collection looks pretty great with the two groups combined. I'm torn between waiting or getting the retro carded to finish the team.

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
None of us know for sure, but we do know from the leaked list that there will be figures based on the X-Men '97 cartoon, and other than Magneto the rest of them seem to be in the same Jim Lee costumes as the '90s cartoon. I think most of us assume those will be cell-shaded, but who knows? You would think since they were doing Apocalypse in his animated series colors, they'd cell-shade him, but they didn't.

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
I think it's a safe assumption that if the line continues it will feature more reused sculpts so Rogue, Gambit, and Beast will probably be quite familiar. I somewhat reluctantly picked up the recent Beast release as a fill-in with the idea being to get a custom head for it. Gambit was tempting as well, though I think the Rogue needs more work to fit better considering she needs a new deco for her coat. Though when/if Hasbro gets around to doing her it would not surprise me in the least if they just left her coat brown anyway.

Given that, it's far more likely that the X-Men97 wave will not have cel shading.
Re: X-Men The Animated Series
The only problem with that assumption is that the X-Men97 wave is a regular retail wave. They have kept the cel shading to retailer exclusives so far with the X-Men figures being exclusive to Disney and Pulse, Venom being exclusive to Pulse and Spider-Man being exclusive to Walmart and the Spider-Man VHS line being on Pulse.Handsome wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 7:04 pmNone of us know for sure, but we do know from the leaked list that there will be figures based on the X-Men '97 cartoon, and other than Magneto the rest of them seem to be in the same Jim Lee costumes as the '90s cartoon. How piss will everyone be when they release X-Men 97 Wolverine and he's the same as the animated one minus the photo case and cell shading?

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
I'm surprised we got a new sculpt for Cyclops, but I guess they were re-doing the straps for Morph and the Uncanny 275 team. But yeah, for most characters, I'm just expecting repaints of their older molds, with maybe a new head or effect piece thrown in.

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
Nothing would surprise me with the X-Men 97 line, though my expectation is that it might be more of a stylized line similar to the Spider-Verse figures and some of the What-if? releases. I don't think it will be cel-shaded, but if Hasbro wants it to serve as both a new line and continuation of the VHS line then maybe it will? It would make sense they got Storm out, and to a lesser extend Morph, since their looks are the most different for the team (outside of Magneto) in the new show.

Just got around to opening Cyclops today. Loving everything about the figure except that his damn visor is crooked. Can I heat up the head and visor and straighten it up?

I wonder if Pryde of the X-men characters are potentially on the table?
