I forgot that he has the nicer claws. I wonder if that’s what’s rattling around in my package.

The claws don’t detach this time around so I hope not. And I wouldn’t say they’re as bad as Toy Biz claws. The pics I sent are exactly how the claws looked on mine right out of the box. I did have to take a hairdryer to one of the ears on the neutral headsculpt but after 5 seconds the wings held and it’s managed to stay in that shape all night. So if I had to compare this figure to the ML 6 wolverine for example, I’d be putting this XTAS wolverine on the highest of pedestals in my collection and then I’d immediately chuck the ML6 wolvie off of my roof and into the nearest dumpster.

For whatever reason I still haven't been charged for Wolverine yet.

Pulse notified me last Friday he "arrived early" and I would be charged in the next few days.

Still waiting...

I got charged for both Jubilee and Wolverine, but Wolverine hasn't shipped yet. I imagine they might be lower on units due to demand.

I figured I'd reserve my judgement on the cell shading until I had the figures in hand, but what a revoltin' development this is. On Wolverine, and likely Jubilee, when she arrives, the yellow shading is just way too dark, and comes off as distracting. This figure would probably be the best Tiger-Stripe Logan available if it weren't for the shading. I know that's been a straight up deterrent for some collectors, but does anyone actually prefer this style? Like, it just doesn't seem to work for Wolverine and the other two that people already have in hand, Storm and Jubilee.

Get rid of the shading and throw on some arm hair and the X-Force Wolverine claws, and you've got the perfect Wolverine figure. I think it looks good on Jean, actually, but not good enough to justify spending $30ish on something I pretty much already own. I think it looks great for Sinister, though, and he'll likely replace the Wendigo wave one in my main display because of it, and that's saying something since Sinister is easily a top 10 figure for me,

I don't think I'd use "prefer," but I genuinely like cel shaded figures painted up to resemble animation or comic panels.
There were some cool Transformers figures that were cel shaded, and I think there was an animated Batman that I liked, and NECA has released a bunch of cel shaded figures, I think?

As a style, I genuinely like it, even if this execution, specifically, doesn't draw me in.

I think it looks great when done well, but I agree that Hasbro screwed up the shade of yellow on Wolverine. It looks like brown mustard when that's not the shade of yellow used in the show to simulate lighting. The Mondo Wolverine did a good job with the shading, and even though I don't know why the particular figure exists, Hasbro did a good job with the Pink Ranger variant it released. And there are other good figures out there too, some of them that I have:

My Wolverine arrived today while I was at work. It then proceeded to thunderstorm and the delivery man did not put it under the front stoop so the box and drenched along with the retro VHS boxing for Wolverine which was also part of the appeal. I know Hasbro wants to cut down on plastic, but maybe put the figure boxes in a plastic bag before putting them in the shipping box to prevent the most likely scenario where the package is left out in the rain?

You need the cell shading to mimic the animated style otherwise it misses the mark completely. We already have two other normal tiger stripe Wolverine figures. The purpose of this version is for the animated styling, hence the cell shading. That detailing was in pretty every single episode and on virtually every character. It’s the same reason why movie figures have face printing tech to replicate an actors likeness and why video game figures have a pixelated deco. It is meant to replicate the source material and show delineation across our displays when all of our figures are showcased together side by side. That’s all. Now you can put this Wolverine in your display and you, or a friend or a family member can look at that display and can easily say “Oh cool, looks like you have a comic wolverine, a movie wolverine and a cartoon wolverine all on one shelf. Man I used to love that toon back in the day. I recognized this figure instantly! It looks just like the show!”

i like cell shading myself for animated figures, but i also don't think hasbro did it correctly.

I kept my jubilee (just for the glasses) and wolverine order. I will say wolverine looks pretty great, but there's still definitely room for improvement.

Yeah, I don't get this criticism either. We can debate how well the cell shading was executed, but if you wanted the animated series team without the cell shading, they all exist already. It will be expensive to do in the market currently, but find yourself the Love Triangle Pack, Retro Gambit, Rogue, and Storm, Caliban Beast and Jubillee, and riders Prof. X. Done. This is a line specifically for people who want something that mimics the specific designs from the show. I don't know why you would buy this if you didn't want that look.
