I'm in the neck disc hinge camp! Definitely preferable until they can improve the barbell joint.

It's also just straight up false that a disk hinge can't get head tilt. Bucky Cap for sure is limited in that department, but other bodies are not. Like a barbell joint, if a disk hinge is done properly with the ball slight raise off the disk, it will tilt just fine.

But the tilt is far less natural looking than with a barbell. I agree the one of Retro and Armored Spidey sucks, but Black Series has managed to get it down just fine. I'd rather they keep experimenting with making it better than just go back to the hinge.

I hate disk hinged necks if it isn't clear.

I don't even really see a benefit to a neck barbell giving a head tilt. Only head tilt I like is from dogs.

...For posing. It adds personality to figures, especially for photos.

This figure looks amazing. I'll need a few, for sure. I wish it came with the Peter Parker head - which should be a staple along with the wallcrawling hands.

I really hope we get an Extremis this year so we can all have awesome Civil War displays :)

Not a fan of the look...The prototype looked amazing though.

Spider Arms look super cheap. His torso is one color (shiny, almost translucent), his arms and legs - another. His head is also looks different from the torso, arms and legs. It all depends on the price now. If it costs like 30$ - pass.

I wonder how well the retro Scarlet Spider crawling hands would match up for this.

Same here. I can get some tilting on a neck hinge, just like Stark Resilient said. I don't need any more than what the hinged necks provide. I feel like any more tilting than that is just unnecessary and unnatural. I mean, how many iconic poses are there where someone is tilting their neck in a funny position vs looking up for flight, fight, and swinging poses?

I’m happy to move to barbell necks if they work. The retro Spidey one was awful. Joes and MCU figures are pretty great. Case in point, the_leolegendary showing off Wong’s ROM on Instagram:

OH! FOR POSING! You mean like all the other joints action figures have? I get it.

Please show me an example of how that head tilt looks in photos.

Is this seriously gonna turn into a pissing contest...?

If you're big into photography, the barbell joint's gonna feel less restrictive if you wanna get more natural posing. Not all hinge-disk necks are going to have that restriction and will have that extra range, but it's not always guaranteed. If you don't give a crap about that, then you'll be fine with hinge-disk. That said, hinge-disk gets superior upward movement due to how far back the joint can bend, which is something the barbell sometimes can't do due to the head sculpt of a particular figure.

I prefer barbell, but won't knock hinge.

Both have strengths and weaknesses. Don't think we gotta devolve the thread into a back-and-forth over which is better.

People typically tilt their neck when throwing punches. Just about any actual action pose requires the neck to tilt if you want it to really look accurate to the flow of the body.

I don't even know why this is a discussion when Hasbro's own Classified figures at the same price point have barbell necks with hinge tops, allowing them neck tilt AND a head that can look up or down quite a bit. They're clearly doing it better the ML team. Although if you don't like the cut at the bottom of the neck caused by the barbell, that's something I completely understand.

Tilting your neck is a natural movement, even in the most subtle of ways. To act like there is no benefit from having the tilt is disingenuous.

acting like a disk hinge can't achieve it is also disingenuous.
