Wow, those Jubilee accessories are incredible. Anyone know what's up with her elf ears in the limited edition? I assume the helmeted head is to go with the skateboard.

Man...I wasn't going in on this line, but these new figures are killing me. Jubilee looks amazing, particularly the effects.
Aside from the WAY too-short height, another issue appears to be the lack of wrist hinging makes posing the biggest hand effects VERY awkward. Pixel Dan couldn't really find a way to do it with her arms in a semi-natural pose.

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
The elf ears are from the episode "Jubilee's Fairytale Theater" where she tells a story to a bunch of kids and inserts herself and her fellow X-Men into a fairytale. It was part of the final season which featured the redesign. It's also one of the most disliked episodes from the show. Probably not a very useful accessory since she had a whole different costume to go along with it. It would have made more sense to just do a long-haired version of the character sans the elf years for the few who wanted Jubilee to have her final episode look.EnigmaticClarity wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 11:07 pmWow, those Jubilee accessories are incredible. Mondo's elf head doesn't even match the look in that still frame. The Mondo head's hair is longer than the other heads, but it's not as long as it's showing in that picture.

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
It probably wouldn't have fit given the presence of the jacket collar to have it any longer. Plus it probably would have lead to more paint rub, which is an issue with this line because of all of the paint apps. It's meant as a gag throw-in and it's a compromised one at that. I can't imagine anyone buying the limited edition version of the figure for this specific head. The skateboard stuff is a more dedicated look since she gets the board and kneepads to go with the helmeted head and it looks to match the series pretty well. At least, I think it will be a look worth 10 bucks to me.

@Misfit, thanks for posting the info about the sale. Good to see a regular edition Magneto for sale tomorrow, I wonder if that would sell out fast? I'll be working and might miss out on him. Unless he'll be available on other online retailers?

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
Most Mondo releases seem to go up for sale with other retailers. That said, I don't think he'll be an instant sell out or anything. Even the limited Jubilee, which they're selling a thousand of, will probably hang around for a bit if the Wolverine sale is any indication.MaximumCrapping wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 1:22 am@Misfit, thanks for posting the info about the sale. Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
Just so hard to decide with these larger figures. I like Jubilee, but she's C-list or D-list. Anyone who starts going down the road of buying deep cuts in the 12-inch scale better have a hangar-sized recreation room to put those in. I don't have that for now, so while I really want to order her due to how great the cel shading and accessories look I really just can't go down that road unless I want to shop for new houses too to put the hundreds or thousands of other Jubilee-level characters likely to be released over the next decade or so.

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
The space needed is definitely a bigger hindrance for me than the price. While I don't love throwing down 200 bucks on a single figure, at least they've been spread out and done one at a time. I have enough space right now for Wolverine and Magneto to hang out with the Hasbro figures, but once Jubilee is added that will be hard. Maybe it will just get me to ditch the Legends releases far sooner than I ever would have expected. Or, I may need to just take down the VHS style boxes. Right now, I have my Legends in front of the boxes which are arranged like one would have placed their VHS collection on a shelf, but if I can start slotting in Mondo figures instead it might make more sense.

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
In comics overall, sure Jubilee is C or D list level. But for the cartoon, she was an important cast member. She was in the main cast, unlike higher ranked X-Men like Nightcrawler or Colossus, and more often than than any other character except Wolverine, the episodes were from her point of view. I don't know who's collecting this whole line, but if anyone was, they'd be pissed if Mondo didn't make a Jubilee.

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
When the Hasbro VHS line got announced, I read a ton of comments on Reddit from people complaining that Jubilee was one of the first two. But in reality, they picked the exact right characters to start with. If the series has a main character, it's between Wolverine and Jubilee. It's a huge ensemble cast where characters get time to shine, but Jubilee is supposed to represent the target audience of the show.Handsome wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 5:30 pmIn comics overall, sure Jubilee is C or D list level. Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
Seems natural for Hasbro and Mondo to do Jubilee so early in their animated lines for the series given that the entire first two episodes focus on the Sentinels trying to capture her. IMDB also shows that she's in 74 of the 75 episodes, so she was one of the absolute major characters of that series.

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
Is that accurate, though? I remember her missing for story arcs, because all the main cast took turns missing. Used to drive me nuts!
I've scratched my cel-shaded itch with the DST busts, but dang if these aren't tempting! Jubilee looks really good, but Magneto's knees still bug me.

The sale is now live. Shipping is at least free, but there's no lessening the hurt this line puts on a wallet, especially for anyone out for both Magneto and Jubilee today.

Re: Mondo X-Men Animated figures.
Probably not. Alyson Court most likely voiced a lot of incidental characters as I can think of two episodes off the top of my head that Jubilee wasn't a part of. She probably still totaled a hefty amount of episodes though and I wouldn't be surprised if she's number 2 behind Wolverine. It seems when the gang broke off into smaller crews she was often a part of it, though not always. She probably had less presence as the show went along and they pulled more from the comics, but still got her lines in to keep the episode count high. I'm fine with her as the second X-Men character released in this line though since she pairs well with Wolverine and there's hardly a guarantee Mondo gets to do the entire team. She even pairs well with Gambit so that trio will make sense on a shelf if the line were to end there.JPC wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 6:40 pmIs that accurate, though?
