I think region also has something to do with it since they ship from both warehouses and stores.

This has been my guess as well, but I haven't seen evidence of it yet and I've seen items ship from so many stores scattered around the US that I don't have much insight into how it works or how we could use it to perhaps guess when and where we may receive stuff.

Their warehouse is in the east coast. I suspect they ship to east coast folks from the warehouse and to save cost, west coast customers get theirs shipped from the stores (since they need to ship to stores anyway). The problem is, once they hit the stores and get put on shelves, they sell out immediately so when the Target picker tries to pick someone's order, they can't. I would be interested in knowing what location your Target packages ship from for just preorders (because certain things they still pick and ship from stores).

I've seen no consistency in where my stuff ships from, but I haven't looked closely at that so there could be a pattern. I'm also on the East Coast, mid-Atlantic region in Virginia--do you recall where the East Coast warehouse is you've seen them shipping from? I mostly see items ship from all over the country, but I haven't spent much time reviewing that to be sure it's true. If you know where one of their warehouses is I'll likely go back and see if I've gotten stuff from there, and at the same time I'll look for any kind of loose consistency in where they send to me from.

I also don't get many cancellations. I'm not sure I've had any, and if I have it hasn't happened in at LEAST two years. I see backordered items often, but I've still never had those cancelled--and they're usually the exact parts of the wave that nobody has yet seen in stores or online as in stock, either, so when I see it the reason for the backorder seems clear in that they appear to just not have it from Hasbro yet.

I'm not a fan of the emails they send out for pre-orders demanding that you verify you still want the item when they have some sort of delay, but as long as I respond the next day I haven't had those result in cancellations. I know many people here have said it has happened to them, and I definitely believe it, but it doesn't seem widespread and as I noted it has NEVER happened to me.
I don't order any non-exclusive Legends from Target because of the barrage of verification pings they send, and I haven't had any Marvel Legends figures unilaterally canceled by Target - but I did have an entire set of G.I. Joe Classified figures canceled by Target. It wasn't because I failed to respond to one of their "do you still want this" e-mails either. That issue seemed to be pretty widespread with those items.

And they DO seem to cancel pre-orders if you fail to respond to one of their verifying e-mails which is a super annoying process that no other on-line retailer does. But they continue to get enough exclusives I want that I have to deal with their nonsense.

Doesn't Walmart do that too? I've heard they do, but I don't pay close enough attention to care much.

I don't get those with Target because I have a Target credit account attached to my RedCard; they don't seem to ping that presumably because they have a way to know the balance is there without doing test charges. Having said that I have a bigger annoyance I care about more than the test charges--the credit limit is low-ish, something like $1200, and a few times I've pre-ordered so much stuff I hit the limit--and they count pre-orders against the limit even though they haven't actually charged for them in any way that shows up against the balance. I find it difficult to know when I've got room under the credit limit due to the way their pre-orders work. Kind of a minor thing overall, but I've hit that snag the past two Decembers in a row after buying a bunch of Christmas presents from Target while also having a string of pre-orders open. And they have no path to increase the credit limit, at least one that I can find.

I would just switch it to my bank account, but there are drawbacks to that as well people have outlined here that I forget right now.

Based on the questions I get from my wife, I don't think so. Admittedly I also only tend to pre-order store exclusives from Wal-Mart as well. Most of my standard figure pre-orders are with Amazon, BBTS and Pulse.

WalMart definitely does the pre-auth thing, it's highly annoying!

Attaching a red card to your debit account (or using a red card credit card) solves that from Target at least. No pre-auths on anything ordered on a red card, and you get a 5% discount which is pretty cool. Maybe Wal-Mart has a red card equivalent? I stopped pre-ordering exclusives from Wal-Mart since they ALWAYS show up crunched up in bubble mailer envelopes, so I've never looked into it with them.

I haven't seen any retailer that offers the forever 5% discount the Target RedCard does. I've seen others post here that Target RedCards set up to go against a debit bank account DOES result in the periodic balance-checking charges, but I haven't had one linked to a bank account so I'm not at all sure of it.

Mine is linked to one of my debit accounts and so far no pre-auths for any pre-orders since I got the red card.

knock on wood! Hopefully it stays that way!

I remember now what others have said is the disadvantage of linking debit cards to a Target RedCard--when you buy anything you have to enter a PIN. Usually that's fine, but if you're trying to check out quickly right after something new and highly desirable is listed at target.com? You're at a competitive disadvantage due to having to enter a code so if it's a race to getting through checkout you're one of the slowest in the race.

I RARELY have to buy something as soon as it's listed so I may go ahead and link to a debit card.

I ordered from BBTS. I almost played the preorder shuffle when Target had their sale, but they only had the sale on SOME of this wave and not all. I just said forget it. But since then I've dropped half of this wave anyway.

Avalanche: Canceled. This guy is half-assed, no two ways about it, and not worth full price. Interestingly, it DOES have something in common with the Toybiz Avalanche in that neither look like anything ever drawn in the comics. Difference being, the TB version has heart and soul poured into the paint, articulation, and sculpt work. It even goes above and beyond in trying to duplicate his powers with that that sweet vibrating base. If you only have two Avalanche figures to choose from and neither look like the comic, go with the one that has effort put in.

Multiple Man: Canceled. This guy is just so basic, I don't think it's worth $25. Nothing more against it than that. I may pick him up on discount. I have the X-Factor MM, and I don't really need two. The fact that he is in his original suit is really the only tempting thing about it.

Phoenix: Canceled. Nothing bad to say about her, great for those that missed the two pack version, but I'm not one of those people. I considered keeping her to use the body for Rachel, but then I would need a Rachel head, and I want her in the spikey suit look anyway.

Feeling good about the other half of the wave, though. Longshot will look good with my Standard issue Mojo and Retro Dazzler. I plan to go all in on the blue and yellow X-Men, so Wolverine is a must and those look to be the best unmasked heads they ever did, and like I said earlier, I really can't wait for Spiral. She's the only one I'm waiting on then I can ship my BBTS pile of loot. Looking forward to it.

I've been confused this entire paragraph in that it seems like you're implying the Toy BIz is the one with effort put in. Wasn't that a basic figure with very little articulation? Certainly many Legends figures are phoned in, but suggesting this new Avalanche is worse than a figure with less than ten points of articulation is extreme. :?

Yes, I'm talking about that Avalanche. I guess there was another TB one from the 90's, pre ML.......I forgot about that one.

Watch them reissue a better Avalanche that everyone will want in a 3pk with Destiny and either a better Mastermind or a better Pyro.

I'd say villain Rogue, but 2 new characters would be expecting too much for $77.

I still have that Avalanche in my display. I still really like the figure. Its proportions are a little off compared to the newer ML figures, but I still really like it. Because I have it and I like it so much, I also will be waiting on the new one. I may not even get it on discount. It just looks off to me. I'll have to see how far down he goes on sale or clearance and if I care enough at that point.
