I’m shocked classic Iron Man hasn’t sold out. To me, it’s the quintessential Iron Man figure. If I were allowed to have only one I’m figure, it would be that one.

I think it's because the Marvel Legends AI Iron Man and 20th Anniversary releases are so good. I almost skipped the Mafex because it's not a huge upgrade on those two Legends figures, and certainly many here in this thread have said they skipped it for that reason. The Mafex is a definite upgrade over the two Legends figures in every way aside from not including the early classic mask that the 20th Anniversary one has, but much less of an upgrade than most Mafex figures are.
I would have skipped the Mafex Iron Man if not for the fact that Mafex is making a comic Thor and Captain America. Can't have Cap and Thor without Iron Man.

I'm sure Hasbro will redo that figure. Seems like they're going back and redoing a lot of characters from their early years of having the license.

BBTS is showing Magneto and Storm for February 2023. These both got delayed until April, right?

What else was due this month? Was it just those two or where there 10 other figures in this month manifest?

According to BBTS:

169 Loki
171 Wolverine
172 Deadpool
173 Cyclops
177 Storm
178 Iron Man
179 Magneto

Are all scheduled for February 2023. That's just Marvel, I didn't check other MAFEX figures.

I keep all of the Mafex releases bookmarked at AmiAmi to answer this exact question of when stuff comes out. I do that because one of the columns in their bookmark list is release date, and they keep that updated as Medicom changes them very well. So you can go and bookmark every Mafex you're interested in, look at your bookmark list, and see at a glance all of the most recent release dates.

Going by my AmiAmi bookmark list Loki is the only figure on your list that still has a February projected release.

Yeah, I think it’s just Loki. I don’t think there’s a DC one.

They shipped a lot last month with at least three reissues and three new figures. And from my understanding, Lunar New Year has an impact on production and logistics for Asian countries, so should be a quiet month.

(I’m hoping so at least, I don’t want like seven figures hitting at the same time!)

It's $150 & mostly due to it coming with an accessory that people didn't want (with this Iron Man, at least). Doesn't help that as good as the figure is, it's not significantly different from the Hasbro versions.

Hoping for a reissue without the cannon.

Honestly, the more releases we get over the next few months, the better. The yen is still relatively weak. I paid $20 less for symbiote Spider-Man than Hush Superman in spite of the fact that Spidey came out more than two years later/post-inflation.

Also when it comes to collectors who were born in the 80’s and 90’s who are probably at that collecting butterzone, you would think that those fans might be more drawn to the modular armor or bleeding edge or this upcoming extremis iron man armor from Legends. I mean yeah the classic armor has appeared in comics from time to time over the last decade or so but I don’t think a ton of millennials are thinking “Yeah bring back the outdated armor that could probably be outwitted by the hardware inside the Atari 2600!! That suit was sweet!!

I wouldn't be shocked if Iron Man had a higher production run or stores placed higher orders. Not trying to stereotype, but I'm guessing it was thought he might have more appeal in the home market than some of the earlier characters. Factor in all the other reasons already mentioned and you see Iron Man available longer than other releases.

No disagreement about the cannon being unnecessary (especially with Hasbro doing this own version that’s just as good).

But the figure itself definitely — at least to me — looks and feels more like classic Iron Man with it literally looking like a man with a slim build wearing skin tight armor that fits like spandex, which is how I remember the ‘70s/early ‘80s Iron Man looking. The Hasbro ones, which are great figures I own, are much more bulky like there’s a person inside armor.

But yeah, to an earlier poster’s point, once Thor and Cap come out, this one will be impossible to find for under $300 unless they do a reissue.

Iceman would be a pretty straight forward figure for them to do, but he would need so spectacular ice blasts and slides to push him over the top.

I actually hope we get an AoA or Joe Mad version of Iceman first. When I think of Iceman in the 90’s, that’s the first one that comes to mind. Especially once he learned how to reach the full totality of his powers, he became a much more interesting character both in terms of how he looked and developed story wise. And there would be lots of potential for Mafex to play around with this look because you can still have the traditional three extra headsculpts that Mafex usually likes to incorporate with their figures. They could give us a John Romita Jr headsculpt, a Joe Mad with the hair parted in the middle, and an Adam Kubert AoA head sans nose and mouth. It’s right up Mafex’s alley.

Bumping this thread because Medicom delayed a few March Mafex figures already, but they still show comic Thor as March. We should know within the next week if that means his release is imminent.
