What, really? How so?

The little X symbol that he wears over his heart is meant to be an allegory for the military honors that you might see on a ranking officers jacket, such as a General or an Admiral. The bandolier across his chest which loops over his neck is meant to represent the stripes on a soldier’s uniform, or the three gold buttons on a ranking officers lapel. Even his tall boots and kid gloves look like an officer’s ceremonial garb in the Marine Corps.

The whole costume just gives Scott a sense of distinction, service and valor. And it makes sense because the X-Men act as a paramilitary group with Scott being one of the de facto field commanders whenever they are on a mission. His words and actions carry weight with the team and he does his best to lead by example. So his outfit gives him a sense of authority.

Wow, I never knew that was the inspiration. Pretty cool.

Like a lot of fans that costume was always my favorite, largely because it's just such a sharp design and it looks really damn good. This gives it a new depth for me.

Thanks for the explanation.

Hard to believe I know. If I recall he was a member of that team too.

Strange that Cyclops has no cuffs on his gloves or boots. I know he got rid of them when he switched to the yellow, but iirc he always had cuffs while wearing the white. Maybe I'm misremembering as I haven't read X-Factor in donkey's years, I dunno.

Uncanny X-Force Deadpool! I think I read there’s an X-Force Wolverine on display too so we just need a Psylocke repaint, Archangel and Fantomex to complete the team.

I dunno what story it's from but there's atleast some precedence:

I believe that's from the final few issues of the original X-Factor run. Muir Island saga, maybe? It's been a while...

I really love his late X-Factor look without the cowl, too. Especially in the blue and white moreso than the blue and yellow. The middle ground between classic Cyke and 90s Cyke. Perhaps Mafex is going to give us multiple options - cowl, cowl down (which looks obvious from the pics), and no cowl? That would be incredible.Image

Remender's X-Force is probably one of my favorite comics of all time, so I'm stoked to get Deadpool from it.

They just unveiled a WW84 golden armored Wonder Woman figure with wings yesterday, so that makes it seem like something they'd tackle. Her wings are folded up behind her in the one picture we have of her in their display case, so who knows how articulated the wings are.
