MARVEL SELECT - new Captain America

I got Apocalypse yesterday, and opened him up today. Wow, he is extremely impressive...except for the head. It's too large, and there's just something off about the face.

So I replaced his head with the aggressive expression head that came with last year's retro-carded Legends Apocalypse.

It's magnificent. The Legends head sits perfectly on the peg, and it's smaller, which just feels better in terms of proportions. With this minor kitbash, I am absolutely enamored with this figure. Granted, I'm biased because Apocalypse is one of my favorite characters, but it immediately becomes one of my favorite figures in my collection.

Here he is with both versions of the same head, retro card and BAF. Color wise, the BAF head is an even better match.

I just like the look of this so much more with either of these. Maybe it's just me, but I remember him more with the head taking up less space inside the collar of his armor and this better matches that look.

The head he comes with is so big, and the sculpt and expression is weird. It looks like Forest Whitaker in Apocalypse makeup.

Otherwise the figure is great. Yeah, would be even better with a wider range of articulation in some spots, the feet could be a shade bigger, and the cables could have been made from a slightly softer plastic to aid with posing, but those are minor nitpicks. He doesn't need to be posed like Spider-Man. Aside from the head, the sculpt and paint apps are terrific. Does a great job of capturing the look and feel of classic Apocalypse.

Yep, that looks very nice. I wonder what that head would run me on ebay. I'll probably just live with Big Head Apocalypse, but looks great.

Honestly, I think Apocalypse's head looks good enough in hand that I don't feel the need to grab another Apocalypse for its head

The MS Apocalypse head may be a tad large, but I do like it. I think it just sits too low within his collar.

Looks a million times better with a smaller head. Still needs bigger boots, though.

The Select head did not pop off easily. But I put him in warm water to loosen some of the arm joints, and pulled the head off after, although it required a little force.

The Legends heads pop on and off easily and sit pretty well, maybe just slightly loose but it's not really noticeable.

Apparently the Legends hand accessories somehow fit on the Select as shown in the pics below from a Reddit thread. Not sure if vice-versa is true and the Select fit on the Legends, but I asked the Reddit user who posted the thread.
