I received notification from FedEx that an 11lb box of Simpsons are on the way. Tentatively scheduled for Groundhog Day so if I get stuck in a loop at least I’ll always have new toys to open.

My shipment got delayed, but in news of more interest to the general masses here, Super7 finally made a statement on the apron thing by updating their preorder page. It's missing, it will ship to those who ordered from them, and anyone else who received Moe by other means should probably email Super7.

Got Homer and Moe today. I like Homer. More paint slop than I'm used to on an action figure though, but it's only noticeable from up close on most parts. Only the open mouth head has noticeable black paint bleeding onto Homer's face. I haven't opened Moe, but I looked for the apron in the packaging and it's not in there. Super7 sent an email about Moe's apron, and made it really easy to request it, at least

Edit: Never mind, they sent me a response saying that my pre-order was shipped. I guess they didn't read the subject line of the email.

Opened up Moe. Figure is nice, but they painted the sleeves on the arms. They're cast in yellow, and there is some chipping going on near the blue joint, which they also painted on the figure even though it was cast in the correct color. They should've just split the arm at the sleeve, and cast the arm and sleeve in there respective colors rather than cast it all in yellow. Though I guess this was just a cost cutting measure.

My set from Super7 took awhile to get to me, but it's finally here! Some quick thoughts:

All of the sculpts are really good and I expect that will be the line's strength. They're all pretty on-model and feel appropriately sized.
The paint apps are just okay, neither good nor bad. Not the cleanest of lines, and there's scuffs and such in places.
The robots, especially, are loaded with accessories. Hard to feel like anything is missing (except Moe's apron, obviously). I do wish we got a proper stand for Homer so he could do his floating in space pose easily. Especially if it could have come with a "floating" chips attachment.
Robot Scratchy having only one gripping hand sucks. The baby axe accessory is also a slug figure that can't stand, which is a bummer.
Poochie's hands are a pain to remove because they're recessed so far in the cuffs of his jacket. I haven't been able to get them off yet, but I also haven't tried softening the forearms with heat.
Homer's heads are a bit tough to swap. The peg hole on the alt heads is clearly smaller than the default one. Hot water works and I would advise that unless you want to risk breaking the peg.
Articulation isn't anything to write home about, which is expected of a Simpsons line. My only real complaint there is where's the ankle pivot? Super7 has seemed to decide an ankle swivel is good enough now. At least they have ball and socket hips, for the most part, and not those thin pegs they usually use.

They're not perfect, but they're pretty fun and I'm happy to finally have them. I think whether or not they're worth 55 bucks a piece is going to be a personal decision and probably not an easy one. They look good, but they definitely don't have a premium feel. I think if people could get these for $35-40 they'd be more likely to sell, but hopefully Super7 is doing well enough to keep the line churning for at least a little while. With Wave One now out hopefully that means we hear about a Wave Four soon.

I’m guessing it’s for King Size Homer, but kind of hoping it’s for Herb. If it is Homer, then I hope Marge and Lisa are in the wave as it would be silly to get two Homers before one of them.

Thanks for the review, Misfit. I think I'm in the $35 camp, but I'm looking forward to Bartman and Krusty. Glad you're enjoying the figs!

I saw someone on Reddit do some work on Moe with a Gundam marker--mainly just outlining the eyeballs and adding a couple hits here and there. Their linework wasn't the best, but it did make the figure look more like the cartoon. It's hard to translate 2d characters like the Simpsons into 3d. I might try it with mine, eventually.

So will we get a neutral Simpson family member this wave? If not, I think it's safe to say they just aren't coming, or they are being held back to try to save the line if waves 1-4 don't sell well. I wouldn't be surprised though if the family variants are mainly saved for Bart and Homer, since they might be the "Wolverines" of this IP, and a normie Marge or Lisa are in 4.

No matter what, I'm interested to see what they do with Lisa's hair. IMO one of the hardest things to bring into 3d.

I would hope that they just give us the whole family in normal looks in one go this wave. It's not like it would crater the line anyway. It might actually have the opposite effect.

Wave 4 is now up at Super7's website. All are the regular $55 price point:

Very surprised to see Homer again before Marge or Lisa. Also, pretty surprised that we're four waves deep and Super7 hasn't released a single female (I don't count Kang and Kodos) in the line. We are getting a minority in Drederick Tatum, but Super7 is usually pretty conscious of the male to female ratio in their lines.

This line is so bizarre. Are they that confident in variants selling that they are willing to risk the line dying before standard versions of the main characters are released? Just seems like a really weird choice.

IF their thinking is similar to their thoughts on Disney Ultimates, they might feel the standard versions have been done enough between WoS and McFarlane, that they're going to cover the episode specific looks first.

I think that's what they're doing. It still makes some of their pics odd. King Sized Homer has been done quite a bit, and I'm surprised to see Devil Flanders over Stupid Sexy Flanders, but Kid Robot did do a statue not that long ago so maybe that's the thinking. Mostly, it really does feel like a scattershot line where the people in the office are just angling to get their favorites out and if it sells it sells. Disappointed to see that Radioactive Man dropped the diaphragm articulation and I hope they consider including a stand of some kind with Flanders. Homer isn't going to articulate for crap so he'll just be a bigger version of the Playmates figure with hopefully better paint. Ehh, I don't know about this wave. I could see myself getting all four, but I could also see myself passing on all four. Flanders feels like the easiest lock because that's an iconic episode, but I could see the figure being frustrating given its construction and lack of scene-mates. Tatum looks like he'll be the best figure of the bunch, but how badly do I want a $55 Mike Tyson parody on my shelf? And again, no boxing Homer to pair with him.

I like this wave a lot, but I'm dying to get a classic figure or two in here (whither Thrillhouse?). And I'm still really hoping on Summer of 4 Ft. 2 Lisa.
