Looking to make a 1/12 scale rooftop billboard for Daily Bugle ala the Silvercup sign but getting stuck on the brace pieces. Was hoping to use a found item but nothing strikes me as correct. May have to go with chopticks and glue. Ideas welcome

It included a small walkway piece you could likely leave off when assembling it.

The 2012 Nick toon Playmates TMNT line had a pretty good billboard in a zipline playset.mr Articulate wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 11:20 pmLooking to make a 1/12 scale rooftop billboard for Daily Bugle ala the Silvercup sign but getting stuck on the brace pieces. For the brick wall, I used some vinyl brick strips I found at Walmart in the Christmas minature viallge section. they look kind of like this:

How many of us here bought that dance studio when Target clearanced it to $25? And then spent 3x that "fixing" it up and buy furniture and accessories...lolInanimateObjects wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 2:01 pmThank you!DisneyBoy wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 7:34 pmYour work - especially with playsets and dioramas - continues to inspire man. Here's a question: is there any plastic brick wall that can be bought? I haven't seen just a generic brick wall piece (or pieces that can be connected for a long street wall) online...there's some cool stuff from the wrestling lines, like chain-link fences for instance, but no brick wall.
I personally don't like cardboard just because it can degrade or get bent, and it's flat without texture.
There's a brick wall in plastic sheet form available through some arts and crafts or hobby stores. It can be easily cut to size and glued onto a surface, such as cardboard. I haven't bought it in a long time, but I seem to recall it was maybe $5-$10 a sheet. Might be a cheaper alternative than Extreme-Sets. Here's an example of it in use:
You might also consider just scaling a photo of a brick wall and printing, maybe as poster size, and then mounting to foam core.
I hope these ideas might spark something!

Maybe check some of these to see if there's anything you can use.

Brick walls are pretty easy to make with foam board, if you want to go that route. https://youtu.be/c2rximPFK7c
You can find tutorials on stone as well but there are fewer of them.

Re: Play Sets and Dioramas
I was going to suggest that as it's the easiest way to get them made the way you want, but some people don't like or want to make it themselves.
For example, these half wall retainers and the big wall in the back are just pieces of carved and painted foam.

This was the first foam piece I ever made carving random stone shapes into foam to make dungeon walls.

basically you can by the pillars, or the crumbled stairs or both combined with option C. It looks a little pricey but these are resin and not foam or papercraft. That said, I bought some off either Etsy or Ebay that were foam and modular for around $40 some time ago.
Anyone else cash in on the BigBadToystore 50% off sale with the container dioramas and Fext street scene? The deals were better than Black Friday specifically on metal dioramas.
Re: Play Sets and Dioramas
MMMTOYS has a Greek ruins dio in multiple parts for preorder on BigBadToystore.

Are any of the extreme sets detolf sets fit for a dragon ball or MCU display? I've found sewers for tmnt, orange and purple sci fi for autobots/decepticons, generic streets that look fit for comic figures and generic dungeons.

Re: Play Sets and Dioramas
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not so much looking for ruins though, and definitely not at that price LOL! I think I see now why so many collectors are going the paper/cardboard route. This stuff's expensive, unless you happen to find something at a toy meet or on clearance...

Re: Play Sets and Dioramas
I am in the planning phases of a diorama and looking for fencing. I am working on a 1:18 scale dio and need some chain link fencing. I imagine a line like G.I.Joe would have something for like an ammo locker or bunker but am not having any luck.
I am planning a droid depot loosely based on the depot in Galaxy's Edge at Disney. I am looking for something similar to what they have droids caged in. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

You said the aquarium stuff doesn't work for what you had in mind. Are you looking for unattached columns? I thought these from Ali Express look pretty cool.DisneyBoy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 8:40 amI was also looking for Greek columns and temples and stuff and found those scarce. There some decent cake pillars that aren't expensive, but finding a simple plastic white Greek Temple is somehow impossible. I figured there'd be plenty of those kinds of things, but nope. There's some stuff for fish tanks but it's all grey and not plastic and not ideal.

Ali Express! I always forget about them...thanks.
Yeah, I guess I just figured toymakers who typically make like Egyptian temples and things would have, at some point, made a nice big Greek temple, but...apparently not.
It's strange which things are common and which are rare or unmade.
