Well, well Playmates Toys finally has an update on Instagram showing the new Prodigy figures minus Janeway. They say The Wait is Almost Over! I guess we shall see!

Lame showing. Just a few images. I've had family members describe colonoscopies with more enthusiasm that Playmates talking about their own Trek line.

Ain’t that the truth. They really need to get off their butts and outsource their advertising. If they would just release a little bit to famous YouTubers or showcase their stuff at a comic con they could literally have darn near endless free advertising. Instead they are really testing the boundaries of too little, too late. I was excited as hell just to see some small hint that we might see more but my expectations are really low on the follow through. Playmates really has a lot to learn about building good will with the fan base and they are really going to have show way more effort then they are currently.

To be fair - the website is above and beyond.

They just didn't carry on.

I've been sending questions to Playmate's Toys via their "contact us" page on their website lately to see what, if any, info they'd be willing to share. They've actually been saying more than I thought they would be, lol. Last week I asked them if there were any plans for any more ships in their new line, and they just got back to me that they apparently have an Enterprise-D set to release this June. I passed on their TOS Enterprise, since I have one the DST version of it, but I might get the D.

I also told them that I'd love to see them make some of the ships from the more modern shows, like the Discovery, Titan-A, and the Enterprise based on its appearance in Strange New Worlds. The response I got today said they'd "send along a message to our Star Trek Team". I don't exactly expect my comments to have an effect on their decisions with the line, but I can't imagine it'll hurt.

Well I guess it’s a good sign they answered your question. I have been corresponding with Playmates ever since their original line in the 90’s. It seems like in the last six months or so they have not been replying back to me at all. I find that kind of strange because I usually am praising their work and thanking them for once again bringing us new products. Hopefully the silence has just been them doubling down to bring us the best line possible.

I think they're just 5", because they sure aren't in scale with each other.

They're too small to fit in too well with the 90s figures. Another strike. At least MOTU Origins works with vintage MOTU.

Good to hear we'll be getting some more ships, the TOS Enterprise is one of my favorite recent toy purchases. I'd buy the Enterprise-A, the Titan-A, and the SNW Enterprise if they made them in a heartbeat. Not sure about the D, I never quite liked that design. I still have an older E I picked up on eBay, which gives me some representation for that crew in a ship I liked much better.

I've been having some weirdly good luck getting real responses from companies lately. Only one I'm still waiting on is Bodum, lol. I emailed QMX a couple of days ago asking if they were still producing Star Trek products, specifically their screen accurate badge replicas. They just got back to me saying that they are and that their next release of badges are currently expected around June.

Hopefully they'll be announcing a Star Trek Picard badge. Its far from the only badge I want to get, but since I'm planning on making a jacket based on the uniforms in season 3, having the appropriate badge to go with it would be great. That said, if they do a new release of the DS9/Voyager badge I'll probably get that first, since I know I'm going to need it for a friend's wedding, lol.

ReAction 'Elementary Dear Data' figures shown. Shame it is a smaller set & we didn't get Pulaski & Moriarty.

I find it strange that there is not as much synergy between product and what's on screens these days. Picard season 3 is awesome and last night was amazing. So many new things that need plastic representation. On the ship front the Fleet Museum should be a roadmap for Playmates to follow. Just seems like wasted energy to me. People have expressed the frustration of just getting season 1 STD characters and I agree. I personally don't need current versions of these characters but I feel they need to keep up with what's current and current STD characters should have been made first or at all. Like Prodigy. Didn't they eventually move the characters into crew uniforms and these seem like the initial versions of those characters. At the rate Playmates is moving a lot of options will probably never make it out the gates. When the line ends I'm sure most of us will be scratching our heads as to what they thought were priorities.

Super 7 is another thing! All Victorian wave?! No CMDR Shelby, CAPT Jellico, CAPT Bateson, etc. So many characters that never have had a figure. I guess the focus will be the main cast and their variations over the 7-years. Hell, as a Riker man, no beardless version at least?

One of the Super7 design team, when questioned about why Moriarty wasn’t in the wave, stated that Moriarty probably wouldn’t be allowed because of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Estate. Data and Geordie are simply labeled as Data and Geordie. I suggested they simply call “M” - “ Malicious Holo-Deck Program “ or something similar. I don’t know if Super7 had considered that. I sure hope they make a figure of the character though.
