That’s the thing though. This is Toy Fair, not a Comic Con like SDCC. The Star Trek figures were in booths where photography was prohibited and you needed an appointment just to get in on the floor and see what was shown. That’s why the shots that have been revealed are so blurry. They were taken from a second level overlooking the showroom floor. I guess the sales people feel that the tight secrecy on these will keep everyone’s interests peaked.

I don’t make this up. I blame players like Mitt Romney who basically drive Kay Bee Toys and Toys R Us out of business and then things like the state of the world over the last several years. The bullies running the world have to flex their muscle and starting with the innocent world of toys is I guess the best training ground for them to enact their totalitarian internships. I’m sure we can all think of egotistical Toy Gurus from recent years and current headlines! Lol

Super7 TNG wave 2

Victorian Picard, Worf, Data and LaForge from 'Elementary, Dear Data.'

Bit odd no Moriarty.
I hope that's just a wish list...

That’s Wave 3 Reaction isn’t it? I’m pretty sure they will probably have Moriarty and Victorian Polaski to complete the wave.

Oh, gotcha. I was thinking that they were Ultimates because he listed them as wave 2 and there were only 4.

Janeway looks just like the source material. It's a great rendition of that version of her.
Gotta disagree. Looks absolutely nothing like Kate Mulgrew . That is one terrible likeness on that figure...even worse than the Zuckerberg looking Data.
I believe its from the animated show Prodigy, so it's more reflective of the animated model as opposed to the live action actress.

Even NYTF has booths that are off limits to the general TF visitors in the event center. It could be that there are items for upcoming media that the studios don't want spoiled, but retail buyers need to see, or just upcoming items that companies want to keep secret until retailer preorders go up,

Blocking off items in an even that ISN'T DESIGNED for the general public is not some ploy.

Never underestimate the Brotherhood of the Lost Acorn. I used to work for the cable company and witnessed their menace many times! Those little fancy tailed rodents are natural ninjas.

I didn't realize the one photo was from a private event - looked like a convention. The lack of interest is a little less alarming now.

As someone who was around during the good ol days of Playmates Trek having premium aisle space at TRU...it can definitely feel a little sobering to see the state of current Trek toys. I like what Playmates is doing here but man...2 waves a year (if we're lucky?) is such a different beast, especially with so many different shows/movies to cherrypick from.

Definitely happy Seven is coming in the next wave. She's always been a favorite and she's been great on Picard (I'm actually surprised we aren't seeing that version of her to have a more currently airing show in the next wave).

I can’t really think of anything that is really thriving at retail like it did when we had Toys R Us. I would really like to know how this first wave did as preorders and on Amazon. There is apparently no set shelf space for the ships, tech or figures. I imagine that every one that knew about these ordered with Amazon because they were the first one to have them, followed closely by Target. I had a Preorder for them at Big Bad Toystore and I honestly can’t say if Playmates ever sent inventory there. I’m fine with these being available Amazon only if it keeps the line alive for years. Maybe the Prodigy figures will stand a better chance at retail since the show is on Nickelodeon and familiar to young audiences. Maybe older Star Trek can be given new life by association with the younger show!

While I was impatiently waiting at Target for a slightly-tamed ape-child to pick his damn toy and leave the toy aisle that he, his parents on cell phones and the empty cart that they wedged sideways in the middle of the aisle were blocking, I grabbed a Saru and scanned it our of sheer boredom. Said "No location" under location and "none in back." This is not good. No stock and no set location. This will not make any money for Playmates at the rate it's going. I'm predicting we'll see wave one of Prodigy and wave 2 of the mainline will probably get canceled. Another Trek toyline soon to be dead.

Alright, at this point I don't really care about the toys. I just want the show to be good again. To be watchable again. And it's finally going to happen.

Get hyped people.

RMB, Dave Cullen, The Popcast, all those who have disliked Nu Trek are praising the hell out of Picard S3.

Terry Matalas was given full control, no Kurtzman, no Goldsman etc.

If it's as good as they are saying, they really need to make Terry into the Kevin Feige/James Gunn of this whole franchise. Scrap all the current stuff and allow Terry to map out Trek going forward.

Picard S3 has me very excited. I haven't seen season 1 or 2. I really don't like the current crop of shows because it really doesn't fit with what came before. I know it's not supposed to but I like the shows I obsessed over from age 5 until 23. The Kelvin films were OK but Picard S3 is what I think the ST VI of the TNG film era would be like if we lived in a reality where the TNG films got a full run and the Kevin films never happened!

The only thing that seems weird to me, and mind you I still love it, is the new Constitution class. It's like when Chevy or Ford makes a new model that apes the aesthetic of the old 60s Mustang or Camaro but still makes a fully modern car. I know many people over the years have stated otherwise, but to me Starfleet is a military organization and as such it just seems odd that they would feel nostalgia for a very old starship design and make a newer version of it. That said I love the new Constitution class. Call it fanservice but an updated version of my favorite starship works for me. I'm more excited to see this in action than I am the Enterprise-F!
