I hope to see DST's Gandalf the white soon, after all, if it is made into a action figure then there are not many accessories.

"Some" female characters confirmed! Given that there were 3 in the trilogy, we may be getting all of them. I guess all 3 ladies could be even done in 2 figure variants each, if the line goes for long enough.

Re: Lord of The Rings (Diamond Select, BST AXN etc.)
A Balrog hasn't been ruled out, exactly, nor have other larger characters, but the price is a sticking point. And cloth goods are not really something we do at DST, aside from Sauron's cape, so it's easy for us to say "no" if it's going to raise the price of the figure.

Yeah! Arwen in her Frodo-saving dress is a must. A balrog would be amazing, maybe done with roto-cast? You know make it hollow, not a lot of articulation but a good sculpt and good paint. Maybe some $60-$80 would be reasonable.

Re: Lord of The Rings (Diamond Select, BST AXN etc.)
I can tell you that a completely static Balrog in anything approaching proper scale would cost far more than that. So it'd be either really expensive or really small. Neither is preferable.

Will be revelead finally with what exactly comes Lurtz and Boromir. On sites eith oreorder is nothing stated as accesories, only articulation. Previous waves had list of accesories.
So will be revelead or some photos of them?

Re: Lord of The Rings (Diamond Select, BST AXN etc.)
You're right. I took a look at the figures... to be roughly in scale, a balrog would need to be around 30" tall, or higher. But I think an 18" balrog at a decent price would be cool, I mean it would still look epic and huge. It's kinda like the Stay Puft situation. You can't really do an in scale figure of it, but you can do something that still feels huge while not being utterly expensive to make or sell.

BUT Boromir should come with sword, dagger, shield and horn.
Lurtz should come with bow, arrows, quiver, sword and shield.
Re: Lord of The Rings (Diamond Select, BST AXN etc.)
I don't remember us revealing what everyone would come with this early in the pre-order stage. It's usually closer to release, preferably once we have a production sample. When we're aiming for a specific price point, rather than charging whatever it works out to, then we have to see what the factory comes back to us with.

I can tell you that we have looked at multiple production methods, and multiple sizes, and none of them are in the $60-80 range.spinc wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 8:34 pmYou're right. Re: Lord of The Rings (Diamond Select, BST AXN etc.)
I can't think of anything else either would need, so that's perfect, imo! .... unless you can just make a separate breastplate, shoulder bells, shin greaves, black cape, Gondorian Flag, and Osgiliath rooftop dio for Boromir. No big deal, obviously. Other than that, nothing.MSWord wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:23 pmI don't remember us revealing what everyone would come with this early in the pre-order stage. Re: Lord of The Rings (Diamond Select, BST AXN etc.)
I recently ran across the 2nd run Buffy (hair up) and the face paint/sculpt are so far superior to the 1st release w/ the hair down.
It's a very cartoony version of Buffy, to be sure, but that works okay for me as I can place her next to other toon-y characters like TMNT and she feels like she's part of that world.

Re: Lord of The Rings (Diamond Select, BST AXN etc.)
I’m glad someone from DST is here I had to make an account just to thank for the LOTR line. As someone who owned 99% of the Toybiz line I am having a ton of fun with the DST line. The detail and scaling is just so much better, and for its time a lot of the later ToyBiz figures still hold their own, they were doing some really impressive work in the lines later waves. I’ll be buying anything and everything you put out DST as long as you keep making them.
The big gap between Gollum and Boromir/Lurtz was concerning, but the global rights moved to Embracer so maybe that had something to do with the delay? Hopefully we see more steady releases this year and beyond.
My dream releases:
Black Gate Aragorn. TB tried to do this one justice twice and came up short both times. It’s my favorite costume design in the trilogy and would love to see DST take a stab at it.
Arwen. For the same reasons as above, TB tried it twice and didn’t really work either time.
Witchking. The TB one had a helm that was grossly under scaled, it needs a new update bad.
Easterling. I mean how cool would this be? A design challenge for sure!
I also don’t know if this is an option but I would really like to see figures from Rings of Power at some point. Galadriel, Arondir, the Orcs, and Nori all had such great costuming. Regardless on how you feel about the show it was a huge success.
Anyways sorry for the long post I just love everything Tolkien related. Cheers.
